Popping noise in rear end
My Crossfire started making a popping noise in the rear end late last week. It first happened when I was shifting the car in manual mode under moderate acceleration, I would give it gas and it would pop, I would let off the gas and it would pop again. It has gotten progressively worse... it happens when I go around corners or over bumps, or am just slowly idling through a parking lot. My mind instantly goes to a popping u-joint. But at only 47k miles, I find that hard to believe. Anyone else have a similar problem, or ideas of what it could be? Since my car is way out of warranty, where should I take it to get looked at, and not get completely shafted?
The answer may be with the fuel tank imploding on itself and not venting properly.
Check out this link to a Mercedes-Benz page and then read up on the other threads. They may answer your concern.

Rather than have the yahoos at the dealership tear my car up, I decided to live with it....

Thank you so much for pulling up those past threads for me Ben!!! That's exactly what my car is doing! I've been running my car on empty the past week or two, and have never done that before, so that's why this noise is new for me! I wonder if there's any sort of aftermarket fix to get the tank to vent better? Thanks so much again for the help... I really thought something was huge wrong with my car!
Update: I filled my car up yesterday, and that did not stop the noise. I wonder if the vent for the tank is clogged, or more likely, if there's a suspension part that needs to be torqued? I guess I'll have to take it to a Chrysler dealer and see!

In addition to the liftgate bumpers, I had noise from the trim around the inside of the rear hatch window - in my case, near the top of the window. Found it by riding around in the trunk area.

Ok that's some pretty acrobatic feat riding back there still can't figure how anyone would fit, Have you considered Vegas
contortionist act...Thanks, I'm going to check mine tomorrow.
What did you do to correct rear window problem on yours.
Cheers,
Dr Mike
UPDATE:
I took my car into the Chrysler dealer yesterday and dropped it off. They called me this morning and said that the bushings for the rear control arm had dry rotted and were completely gone, and that's what was causing the popping noise. The guy at Chrysler said all of the rear suspension's bushings needed to be replaced at a cost of $780! So for you guys who have a popping noise in your suspension, go get it checked out!

They are covered in the Gold Plan Extended warranty, Powertrain covers all components related to such, engine, tranny, differential driveshafts.
Bushings are suspension components, like brakes not covered unless you bought the extra warranty.
sorry un-politically correct statement follows (in Canada).
Merry Christmas to all.
