On my daughters neon when it's down to one gallon the light starts flashing...I haven't taken the chance to let mine get that low but try filling it up and see how much it takes.

Never heard of a flashing gas light, but check the seal on the gas cap. Maybe it flashes before the check engine light comes on.

I just went through this problem, flashing fuel light and check engine. The dealer did not have a clue. 6 months of back and forth, they even wished to change the instrument pannel,,, that must be where the fault lies... NOT... it finally came down to a leak in the evap vapor canaster / pump solenoid and pump assembly , Error code P0455, it has been a month and so far no engine light and no blinking fuel light. They tested and would get a engine code fault, but physical test no leak,,, I insisted they change it and I no longer have the Christmas tree edition crossfire, the dash is again dark. If you need codes I can provide.

Same thing here with me and many others. Always throws the P0455 code, evap emissions leak, large leak. Sometimes the low fuel will blink and no code thrown, other times it gets thrown. The car only runs the diagnostic test for this while sitting (such as at a stop light, waiting to turn), and only while 1/4 through 3/4 full. Thus if you only drive highway, or through short lights, the blinking fuel light will not often come on. If you search Mercedes sites this appears to occur on them quite often. I recently changed my gas cap and so far it has worked...only time will tell.

ok so i took it to my bro inlaw a great mechanic i told him the problem he said dont wory its nothing serious i took it to his job he hooked up a diagnostic machine to it, gave us the error code leak in gas tank pressure read due to a loose gas cap, he hit reset code on the diagnostic machine problem solved took longer to write this thread than it did to fix.
