America has priced itself out of industry (manufacturing) altogether and now we must learn to survive as a service economy. Like it or not.

Not the thread for this topic, but when your potential enemies can make things that you cannot you are in serious trouble.
Bring the jobs home.

I don't see this happening, as you can't beat the Asian slave laybor when it comes to making a decent product for such low price. I had this argument with my old Machine shop instructor, he seems to think we can beat the Chinese at the manufactuering game, unfortunatly when they have no health care to worry about, no unions to deal with, no enviromental pollution blocks to slow down production, they can pay equally educated Engineers $5/hour and the grunts get < $1/HOUR. Americans will always loose to China's greater work force.

therefore we have to look at it from a differnt point of view. we must be must geared for more Right brain activity and creativity.
Because the Engineers coming out of China and India have far superior education than that which this Country has been offering it's children. it will be hard for many Americans' to accept this but it is reality and the future of the new world order.

The US can put a big fleet to sea because of taxes and foreign sales of goods, no taxes and no sales means that the fleet is mostly mothballed and the Chinese will take over the Oceans of the world. They will then dictate who can do this or that. Maybe the last sale of any size by the US will be its Naval fleet and Air Force to China. Those that rule the sea rule the world, less so these days but still basically true. It takes lots of money to put and keep a fleet at sea, Iraq has drained the money and the financial crisis has worsened the situation. The US is becoming the paper tiger that the Chinese said it was in the fifties and sixties, a very sad and gloomy picture.
Being bright and innovative will not cut it either as the Chinese will be able to put ten people on a project to the one that you have, who is going to come up with the best idea first?
