Hey everone,

New to this forum & working on getting a crossfire. Hoping for some help.

The car, when put into reverse pops right back out unless you hold it in reverse for the duration of time you need it. I know this is not how it is supposed to be at all, though the dealer believes otherwise!! the car was in a collision and fixed still with a clean title, also only having 21,000 miles on it. The alignment was way off also ( took care of now). the dealer claims they fixed it to the best of their ability by adjusting it? though it still doesnt stay in, unless engaged in gear already. Does this sound like something that could be taken care of in your opinion? or more like a nightmare ?

First of all, welcome to the forum. There is a world of great information about the Crossfire here as well as several folks who are really knowledgable ( not me ). It will do you great deal of good to spend some time browsing the threads for info. There are Crossfire features and issues that that you will not find elsewhere including in the owners manual. Do you know our hoods can be propped open at 90 degrees? Its not in the manual. Hint: there is a button near the top of the hood strut that when pushed allows the hood to open to 90 degrees.

As you know, none of the gears, including reverse, should ever pop out.

It should be fixed. The question is, should it cost you anything to have it fixed? I'm assuming you just purchased the car and you were not the one who wrecked it.

Did you just purchase it within 30 days? Then I would demand that the dealer fix it no matter what. Most used cars are sold with at least a 30 day warranty/1000 mile warranty.

The other option is to have it fixed with any remaining factory warranty. But this may only work as long as they do not equate your problem to the collision repair or lack there of.

Lastly, do you know who performed the collision repair? It should have never left their facility with the alignment and gear popping problems.

Its a sad thought that your dealer put a car in this condition up for sale. I'll give them a pass if they fully disclosed the car's history and problems to you. But if none of this was discovered until after you purchased it, shame on them. Is it too late to return it? I wonder what other hidden gems await you? Also, what kind of dealer are we talking about? Chrysler or non-Chrysler. Beware, most will have no clue on the workings of a Crossfire and could compound your problems.

You may want to have an independent mechanic go over your car with a fine tooth comb in order to have all problems brought to the attention of the dealer who sold it to you.

Thanks for the help. I havnt purchased the car yet. i test drove it,but now waiting to see what the deal is with that mess. So fortunately i havnt been stuck with it or screwed over in any way.

Thats great to hear. There are many deals on Crossfires out there. Be a little patient and you might find a real low mileage beauty for a similar price.

Good luck. I know its hard to resist the allure of a Crossfire but it may be well worth your while to search a little. Many Crossfires are weekend toys which means there are many barely used ones out there to be found. I've had mine just short of a year and it will be lucky to hit 4500 miles.
