Fiberglass "Scooped" Crossfire Hood !
~ the only thing i don't like about the xkr hood thought is ... the lack of the center spine continuation.

I have no interest in buying a hood but I did want to add that.
Our shop uses AAR fiberglass parts and they are the best fiberglass parts I have found for mopars.

If we got just 2 more orders for hoods, and this being the first week of OCTOBER, it wouldn't surprise me if AAR couldn't get the 1st. batch of hoods shipped out before Christmas.
Over the weekend I found out that someone in the AMC club that I belong to has one of AAR's "fiberglass" hoods on their 1970 AMX. I've seen the car a half a dozen times, and I never knew it wasn't an original steel hood.
Another forum member brought up a very good point. What do you do with your old hood? I told her they would make an excellent "Art Deco" conversation piece as a "Wall Hanging".
Another point to think about. If AAR see's that it's profitable to produce the custom "scooped" hood for the Crossfire, they might be receptive to producing a "stock" version of the Crossfire hood as well, "hood strakes" and all. While possibly being lighter than the original steel design, being "fiberglass" it would also lend itself quite nicely to any home XF remodeling projects some of you may have in the back of your mind.

Waldig, I may need your expert advice to make this work.

I ordered from AAR this morning. We need 4 more credit cards for them to start filling orders. Dig deep guys, I want to get mine installed soon!
Don, call Diane at AAR and she can give you the cost. They were VERY nice to work with today and I think we are going to get a great product.
well I called to see total cost on this and it was 650.00, plus 49.00 to box up to ship, plus 200.00 to ship, plus 250.00 to paint for a total of 1150.00. I'll have to think about this one.

Man!!! I can't wait!!!
I called AAR today and SMOKED my charge card. I also offered to drive down to Cocoa,Florida from Charlotte,NC to loan AAR one of my SRT-6's for 2 months. Their interested in me doing so towards the end of October. I'm sure we'll get a better quality fitting hood with my car there to spec. out as needed. These are nice people and don't bite. I sure hope the guard dog out back bites and doesn't pee on my tires! LOL. They shared some more information. This hood WANT have screens on the front. It can be made functional. Either by adding a air box hookup or by the hood underside structure made differently to connect. The cheaper method would be an air box adapter. I purchased the hood for out the door pick-up for $650.00. Do as you like but I wouldn't pay them extra to paint my hood. Your pro paint suppliers take your paint code then sets a portable computer on your hood to compensate for the years of fading. These freight companies might even stack a piano on top of your freshly painted hood. I had rather pay a local painter as my budget permits. This will most likely be our last chance for a quality functional custom hood. Don
Sarge and Squirrel,
Cool, we are getting closer and closer to making this work. Thanks for lending them a car for awhile, I am interested in getting a perfect fit and making the Ram Air work if possible.

I can't think of a better FALL project than that. Hey, I'm puttin' my **** on the line here cause I've a bathroom I'm suppose to finish! Well, a man has to have priorities. I just hope not to sing an octive higher before it's done.
It's a Great Project!!! I'll have mine on by late spring...but that gives me time to get the paint and set it all up, besides I have a few boo-boos on the front bumper so when the hood gets done I'll do the front bumper cover as well!!!
We really owe much thanks to Squirel for donating his car for the mold, this is a unique opportunity for those that would like to have this hood.
Allen, by any chance how many confirmed hoods do we have locked in???
