Default Oil Filter

Ok, folks...the search function works, but when trying to go through all of the posts, it gets very confusing.

Which oil filter should be used/purchased? I am looking for replies with brand and model # only.

Thanks in advance!

You may find the information you need at this location.

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=27031

My recommendation is to :
1 Always use a Fleece filter
2 The Mann filters have worked very well for me you can get them at:
http://www.germanfilters.com/
- specifically
http://www.germanfilters.com/slk320-...1247_2056.html
and select the 2004 Mercedes - Benz SLK320 fleece filter for the 3.2 V
3 NAPA also has these filters

Thanks to Lioninavette for great German filter site. I'm in same boat with a new 2007. Looks like Mercedes dropped the 320SLK in their 2007 models. Can I assume the filter for the 2004 would fit any newer CF's?

I own a 2008 crossfire limited and when i went to napa they had a paper filter listed for my 08 but for an 06 the had a fleece in stock and i picked one up that day and had them order 3 more. it was like 18 bucks each and i told them the shop i get my oil change at gets a discount for around 14 bucks each. so he rang me up at a shop price for 4 of them came up to around $58.40 out the door.

IN the end pick up a fleece from napa if you need it right away or order online. do not go to autozone or o'reilly they only have paper and at 6,000-8,000 mile upon removal they crumble into pieces where the fleece is still strong.

Do not ask NAPA for a Mann. Just ask for the NAPA GOLD #7078. It IS the Mann filter. I use the NAPA 7078.

Call NAPA back and ask for a 7078 Gold Filter. You open the box and it will have a MANN filter in it. Look at the pic!

Question Re: Oil Filter

Wix oil filter p/n 57078 appears to be the same as the napa gold 7078. Wix list it as glass media filter. The wix filter has made in Germany on it. Oh i see that wix makes napa filters same filter in a napa box. Both are Mann in this case.

Just in case the NAPA GOLD #7078 is more expensive than the Mann on amazon, is the one I linked from amazon the correct one?

The photo used in the item looks correct. You can tell the paper one very easy. Night and day difference. James

I buy mine at the Mercedes dealer for $15. No paying or waiting for shipping and I know it works. (And I like to see the three pointed star on the top of the filter beside Mann).
