So I was thinking of getting wheel spacers for my XF but a lot of people say that they are bad. One of the forum members says to get shorter wheel studs. What are these? Do they push the wheels out or no? Thanks!

If you are going to use wheel spacers, then you need longer wheel bolts. But some longer wheels bolts are too long and will hit your parking brake hardware, therefore you must shorten them to the proper length.
