I was told that every time we take out car to the dealer they connect to the ob2 connection to check for codes so ,, every time you take your car in to the dealer ,they connect and check for codes and will flash in any and all factory upgrades, which puts your ecu back to stock. is this true , and how would we know if they did,. jim

 

yes a lot of dealerships do that.

you may want to put tape over your obdii port and also tape a note to the steering wheel telling them not to flash your ecu.

 

I did the tape and note thing and also spoke with tech they did not re flash, all was fine!!!!

 

Yes as a dealer tech, the tech's are suspose to check and see if your ecu needs updating, and has the most current software, which most of them do since this is another way to get extra time on the clock in other words more $$$$ in their pay checks.

 

VW does it too - My wife took her Passat in for an oil change and they updated the ECU.

 

Long ago, in an INMotion thread, I read somewhere on here that the ECU software is updated, but the fuel maps are not changeable by standard dealer equipment.

Well, I took my car in to the dealer. A few weeks later I had Eurocharge look at my tune, and my mod was still still there, but this is good to know.

 

Took mine in for inspection. Tech plugged in. I told him I had a performance tune, and did not want to erase it. He said no problem. They plugged in, to see if it would pass emissions is all. Drove it home, and it seem o.k. Would like to know for sure. How about it TVT?
