Default New Wheels and TPMS Arghhh!

So heres the deal, I just got my mandrus installed with my OEM TPMS installed in them, puth them on the car, and my Tire Pressure warning light continues to stay on!

Are these sensors finicky about which wheel they are in and which side they are on? I labeled them for the installer and so that they would be in the correct wheels but I am no expert on TPMS so I am not sure if there is something I am missing.

Is it because I went to larger wheels 19/20 inch setup and the tire pressures may be different...

Grasping at straws.....

Help!!

I have moved my wheels around from side to side without ever having the light come on.

I think that there is something with the sensors that has to be reset, search in the wheels/tires section should be something about it in there.

And let us know either way - if you get it fixed or not. (Or at least PM me!)

After all the trouble of getting them pulled and installed I had figured this would have been an easy transformation but, not so! Looks like its gonna end up costing me stealership dollars unless my xfire team here has suggestions for me!!

Sorry, pal. I had to take it in for my wheel/tire swap. But they did it for nothing. Lucky me.

So did you move your TPMS to your new wheels? THe stealer did it for free?

I may be able to work something as well but wondered why they would not have simply been a simple swap and replace with no issues...

I had a local shop do the mount, balance and TPMS swap/install. When I drove away, the light came on.

The stealer reset/retaught the wheel sensors for nothing.

Did you check the air pressure….these babies are sensitive one or two pounds off and my light will come one. You should not need to do anything for them to work in the new tires….the sensors do not know what rim they are installed on or care, they only look at pressure. Did the tire installer damage a sensor? I know that discount tire does a sensor “rebuild” ever time they change a tire. I would put more air in each tire to see if it turns off.

I quit trying they are more of a pain. Slicks, street tires,Slicks, street tires,Slicks, street tires,Slicks, street tires,Slicks, street tires,Slicks, street tires.

It is a terrible mess and going to the dealer for service is beyone my pain threshold. cut some 3M # 33 tape 1/2" square to cover the light and enjoy the peace. There is little to be gained on this car as we are all into the car and a june bug gets attention if its on the door. checking tire pressure is not an issue, plus you may choose to run a different tire and corresponding pressure.

my thoughts Woody

Understood, just wondering if this is a simple issue that I am overlooking or if I need the stealer.

Not knowing how sensitive or finicky these things are I am never sure.

THanks

Nate

Well really good news, I took a spin this evening and voila TPS light gonzo!

I have no idea why but after taking her out and putting the tires to a test she came back clean!

Thanks for the help all but I really wish I understood how these things worked.

At one point, when installing new tires, on stock rims, I had also installed new sensors. The tire guy had the tool to reset the sensors. The light would not go out. Went to the dealer and they charged $45 to reset the computer and sensors. No problem since.
