HID Kit
I noticed the crossfire has unique head light bulbs. I fitted my HID bulb in place of the factory one and it clears no problem. The only issue I ran into was the locking pin to hold it in place. I am going to try to draw up a way to secure it inside the headlamp housing. Mounting the ballasts and wiring won't be an issue.
If anyone has done an install already, let me know how you secured the bulb. If not, I'll figure it out and take pictures for future installations.
Shame on them for not going HID in the first place. :?

Well I couldn't wait. I decided to figure it out myself.
I was able to use the factory clips:

I was unable to clip both sides, however it holds in the bulb just fine.
I had to modify the HID bulbs-

Cut the tabs off so it would fit into the housing:

The drivers side installation was a snap, the passenger side didn't give me any room to work at all. It took me at least 45 minutes to get the clip to work properly on the passenger side.
Here are the results:

As you can see the target area is MUCH brighter, however the HID bulb is much longer than the factory bulb. I believe that is why the projection is not as wide as the stock bulb. I also think I might have to angle the head light up a little more. I'm getting a blue haze / reflection on most signs I come up on. I have to be very close for it to be white (more visable).
The ballasts were easy to mount. They are the size of a deck of cards. Wiring I just tapped into the stock harness. Cut a slit into the rubber headlamp caps. Ran the wiring through it.
Typically I'd solder directly into the harness, however I was able to just use flat tabs which made it more of a temporary installation. Soldered and heat shrinked the connections of course.
As for the stock harness
2 wire side = -
1 wire side = +
The rest of the images I took can be found here:

The flicker you get from HID bulbs when you first fire them up is pretty cool. Something I expected the stockers to do. :?

Cool what you doing and sharing your info. I do not want to crack you down or whatever, but I do not understand why you doing this
It will be me who don't understand HID. Is it the same as Xenon?
Hope we see the pic's soon (then I maybe get the point)
Grtz,

It is the real HID conversion kit, not xenon gas bulbs. It uses ballasts and HID bulbs. Same technology found in the upper end mercedies and BMW's. That super white / blue light that you can spot out in oncomming traffic. It helps you see much better at night time.

later..
PIC's are back up again. For good this time. Had my data transfered to a new server over the weekend. DNS change was holding me back.
The kit is the HID conversion kit by Eaglite 7000k. It was the 9007 kit for my Eclipse. Instead of buying new bulbs $$$ I just slightly modified them to fit the crossfire housing.
Searching that site further, I can see you can buy the proper bulbs (h7) I believe, so the wires exit the center, instead of the side. Making installation VERY easy to do.
I never used the factory to kit connectors. I cut the wires instead, checked what was ground and what was positive on the original harness going to the bulb. On the eclipse I soldered into that harness. With this car I just used 2 flat tab crimps. Soldered them to the wires on the kit. Slid them into the light harness, and taped it off. Cut a slit into the rubber cap and ran the wires through it.
I had to tilt the head lamps up a little bit to get further throw, as the bulbs I have are a little longer and projected slightly lower. I can now see further down the road. Reflective surfaces glow like fire for miles away. Its a great thing to have, especially if you drive at night.
I picked my kit up a few years ago from this place:
http://www.midnightmoose.com/7000k.htm
It was a group purchase for like $350 I believe. I'm sure if enough of you guys were interested, they would do one for us. I wouldn't mind going with the right kit, instead of my modified version.

Dude, this is an 8 year old thread..... to answer your question... the Sylvania H7 bulbs will be a direct replacement for the factory... DO NOT loose the spring clips while changing the bulbs.....
also make sure you get the alignment tab on the bulb IN the slot or your beams will not be pointing where you need them...
I have another question that is probably dumb... But ill ask it anyway. Do low beams and brights use the same bulbs? Or are the brights different obviously brighter more powerful bulbs?
