Question Oil Change Question or Advice

I bought my car "new" Oct. of 06. Aug. 21st of 07 I had the oil changed @ 2,034 miles. The car only has 4,393 on it & the double service wrenches are on showing 41 miles over due. I'm sure the FSS must have a time limit on it as well as what I read in the "sticky FSS thread" , although I do drive it like it's meant to be driven . With the new synthetic oil I wouldn't think it would break down much over time. So I guessing what I'm asking is what you would do, get it changed or just reset it & drive.

Don't see how the oil can go "bad". It could be sitting in a bottle on the shelf at the store or in your crankcase.

Others may say its worth the extra $$$ just to be sure.

With 17 cars I surely do NOT change oil on the cars that don't get driven for years at a time.

I wouldn't be uncomfortable running it longer.

Well, there's two totally different opinions. If the oil was convental oil I wouldn't have asked the question, I'd change it. But with only a little over 2,000 miles on synthetic oil, I kind of feel it's a waste of money. Thanks for the opinions guy's.

Pull the dipstick and look at (and with experience, smell) the oil to help gauge its condition. If black, it's past time. If fresh-looking, I'd stay-put. But if in-between I'd be tempted to change only the filter (by myself; with the correct version -- not the cheapo paper filter), and top-off the oil after starting the car.
