Default oil temp sending unit help

Im planning out some extra gauges, a pillar, and have a question regarding an oil pressure sending unit. Ive had one of these in the past on my Z3 and it was simply a oil pan drain plug with a sender built into it. Im doing a search and find senders that Im unaware of or if they would work in our engine (size etc)

heres the link

Amazon.com: oil temp sender: Automotive+

also, any info as to which wire to splice into on the oxygen sensor to activate a cyberdyne a/f gauge?

Thanks

Curtis

As I understand it, our drain plug is M14 X 1.5, length 24mm.

I am considering an oil PRESSURE gauge. Turns out, there is a plug in the near bottom of the oil filter casting just for this!

This will be the easiest oil pressure gauge installation I have ever done!

I have an oil pressure gauge and sending unit from JR Industries. I am making a fitting to hook up in the factory test point. The fitting will come out between the pulleys and the sending unit will fill nicely.

The test point is a 12x1.5 thread. And you need a standoff to get it outside the pulleys so you can mount the sending unit.

Yes, I remember seeing that when I was perusing thru the repair manual. Would that be a simular sending unit, I mean, would you just remove that plug and install a sender?

There is not much room between the pulleys where the plug is. And you would have to find a sending unit that is 12x1.5 thread.

Do it first, this is one of the most difficult oil pressure hook ups we've ever done. We've done it on 3 cars and it is extremely not just a plug and go set up.

((EDIT: This is in response to several posts/comments/questions in this thread.))

ANY time I can add one WITHOUT laying under the vehicle, getting crap in my face as I mess around with my hands above me - is an easy day!!!

I had not planned to simply plug the sending unit in - as has been pointed out, there is not enough clearance for that.

My thought was to install a fitting and run tubing up to a foot away and connect the sending unit to the tubing. What has slowed me down is trying to make up my mind WHERE the actual gauge will go. THAT is potentially the hard part!

I am torn between the desire for the gauge and the desire to keep the interior "factory".
Really don't know what to do there. But when I do it, (and I know I eventually will), I will come back with pictures, etc.

pizzaguy, my gauges are all installed(since last summer). I have just been trying to resolve the sending unit. I finally got out the Miller tool for measuring oil pressure and found out where it plugs in. I can make a fitting to duplicate the tool and mount the sending unit and then just wire the gauge to it.
