Default Engine and Transmission weight?

Anyone know what the N/A M112 weighs, I'm guessing somewhere around 300+ pounds. Not much coming up in search, maybe i'm just blind. Need to find out the tranny weight also. Will be selling engine and transmission in January if anyone is interested(38k miles).

The long block for he M112 weighs in at 380ish. The bare block is extremely light though, maybe 50 lbs.

I'm still researching the exact combination but it will most likely be a Mitsu 4G64 or Hyundai 4GCS block, 1g DOHC DSM Turbo head, 1G rods, Wiseco pistons. Toyota R series manual transmission. The thought of having a powertrain in a crossfire with a huge selection of aftermarket parts may scare some of you purist and inspire you to shout Rice out of fear.

"Ricer" heck no, not unless you put 9" diameter exhaust tips out the back, then all bets are off. Good luck with the swap.

It's funny that you're sourcing out all this "ricer" stuff. With Lantana's V8 thread, and me being a Volvo mechanic I'mm looking for a B8444S motor (Volvo, although Yamaha makes it, V8, 4.4L displacement with 4 valves per cylinder) and a TF-80SC trans, 6 speed auto, I lose my stick.... WAAAAHHHH

The factory programming is just not user friendly. Especially when it comes to your wallet. $500 bucks for a tune is outrageous and for what? 30HP? Kudos to Lantana for getting his swap to work but I'd hate to see what it ended up costing him. After ripping up the streets in my Talon for years this makes a lot more sense than trying to put the AMG 5.5 in. High power capability, reliability, and great gas mileage.

Ford has announced a new Direct Injection V6 that makes 305 hp for the 2011 Mustang. I have no experience with direct injection (not even sure if I am spelling it right) But that is only 10 less hp than the 2010 Mustang GT makes with a V8. Hot Rod magazine Sept 09 had an interesting article on direct injection. I wonder what kind of affect it would have on our V6?

Direct injection isn't going to happen to our engines. What direct injection is when fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber under a lot higher pressure to aid in atomization. Common fuel injection is when fuel is sprayed into the intake manifold, or near the vavles before the combustion chamber.

To have direct inject you'd need to rework the head to allow for the valves, fuel injector, and the spark plug

This is probably overkill and super expensive but why not swap in an E55 Kompresssor engine.

It's been done on a C55 by DynoComp

You could be the first! It's just a matter of time before we see this.

DI won't happen, but in theory you could replace one of the spark plugs with an injector...

Chuck, I know this is a little off topic but thought you might find it interesting.
