This is a REAL common problem. IF you can go without the car for about a week, you can mail the RCM to Tight1 and he'll resolder it for you.

I resoldered every pin on the board to make sure I didnt have any cracks or cold solder joints.....

Make sure you know how to solder if you do it yourself.....

You might submit a photo here. I have been soldering electronic assemblies at work since 1980, maybe with a good close up photo I can tell you what you have.

But I won't be online much again till tomorrow.

1) Rosin Core Solder (NOT from Radio Shack, either).

2) Heat - I prefer using a LOT of heat (230 watt gun!) and "get on and get off fast". This way, you actually put LESS heat in components than using, say, a 30 watt iron and sitting there all day trying to get the solder to flow, allowing the heat to spread all over. Like I say, you don't HAVE to do it my way... but that's how I'v been soldering for decades. Just make sure the solder flows and both the board and "barb" of the relay/relay socket gets hot enough for the solder to bond.

3) Oh, don't touch the iron tip - it gets hot!

Doc, it is pretty easy. Just make sure that you get the pins heated up enough to make the solder flow, but not too hot to damage anything..... once the solder flows and makes a good fillet, get off it.....you should have a nice shiney surface with wicking up the pin....

Have fun...

Before ripping the fridge apart, always make sure it's plugged up

Now that you mention it, I fixed a dead refridgerator yesterday. Been sitting for three years - a $60 starter/overload kit and 15 mins of my time and it's running again.

(I made sure it was NOT plugged in when I worked on it!)
