Question Oil Level Sensor Location and Testing

My oil level indicator light goes on and off intermittantly. It is on for 5-10 minutes, then off for 5-10 minutes, etc. It is a 2005 roadster. I had an overfill issue two oil changes ago, and when the indicator light came on, it noted that the level was high. This time, it does not state high, low, or anything. In the manual, it states that if it does not show the oil level (high, low 1 qt., etc.), or if the oil level warning light stays lit while testing, there is a problem with the system. Where is the oil level indicator sensor located? Any clues on how to troubleshoot the system?

Drain your oil, then add 1 qt at a time till the reading comes back "up" . You could use the same oil if its new, just keep track of the volume added so that you know what you have. Woody

He says the sensor is not working, the dip stick would tell you how much oil you have.
Look in the shop manual and see how it's fixed.
See section 9-672

OIL LEVEL/TEMPERATURE SENSOR

REMOVAL

1. Remove the lower oil pan.

Refer to Page 9-663.
2. Disconnect the oil level/temperature sensor harness connector
(1).
3. Remove the two oil level/temperature sensor screws (1).
4. Remove the two harness retainer screws (2) and the oil

level/temperature sensor.

Mine does the same thing, bothered me at first but not so much now since I know why it's doing it. I actually took mine to a dealership to see why and they said it was "bad" and needed to be replaced. So of course they said they could fix it for some rediculous price. You can get a new oil level sensor for like 150 bucks. I haven't fixed it yet but if I do before you get yours fixed I'll let you know how it goes.
