Default First Service - Good Experience!

Had my first oil change today, and a few minor items looked at. Here is how it went.

When I arrived, we went over what was to be done.
1. First Oil/Filter change - provided free by dealer.
2. Reset TPM, since I have the summer tires/wheels installed
3. Check for wind noise

They had a loaner car (2004 PT Cruiser) there and ready for me.

I was called to tell me the car was done and ready to go.

When I came in, we went over everything.

I took the invoice over to the cashier. They charged me $0.00, which I was not expecting, since the TPM reset is due to my changeover. I went back to the service counter to thank them.

Just as I was leaving, the tech came out and said that he had forgotten to reset the FSS, and could I wait a minute while he got the instructions.

He got in the car to do the reset. It took a few tries, but he got it done.
He asked me if I wanted a copy of the instructions to do the FSS reset, which I gladly took. He then described what the display of 2 wrenches meant.

While I was there, one of the salesmen, who owns a red Crossfire came over to ask about the license plate frame and where he could get one. We swapped stories for a few minutes and I told him to be sure to check out this forum.

I drove back to work, and checked the oil. It is just a bit over the full mark. I will check it again tomorrw, but I don't expect there to be any problems, since the tech told me he put in 8.5 quarts.

I am really happy....

I have had my Crossfire in for a few minor service issues but have never heard of an FSS. What is it and why does it need to be reset? Thanks

It stands for "Flexible Service System". It is described on page 96 of the owner's manual. A computer in your car determines when service is due according to the condition of oil, time/milage etc since last service. The directions on how to use it are also on the same page.

On page 227 you will find information on the Maintenance schedules of which there are two... A and B.

Goodluck.

I also forgot to mention that if anyone wants copy of the FSS reset instructions, I can send them to you. There are four pages that were printed out from delaerconnect.chrysler.com

They also describe where the inputs that the FSS uses for it's calculations.

How would you know if your FSS has not been resetted. I haven't heard any comments about FSS from my service advisor..??? Plus they said both our manuals are wrong because it should have been 7 quarts according to the DC service techs ops:

I think it's about time to write to DC how freekin' dumb some dealerships are about Crossfires ops:

Turn key to On/Run position (but don't start). Hit the left dash **** twice quickly, and the number of miles until your next scheduled service (or days if it shows a clock icon) will be displayed. If it's up around 7,000, they must have reset it. If not, the procedure to reset it yourself is in the manual.

undoubtedley. ANY little BS when I take mine if for her first service, and count on there being a letter in the mail to DC.

You should be getting a DC survey in the mail. That's a great place to let DC know what you think of your dealer. I know DC must look at them because my dealer is always making it a point to ask me to please fill it out and send it in when I get it.
