has anyone had a problem with paint wear on door thresholds, and if so, how did you solve it? What do you think of fabricating an aluminum or stainless strip
installed on the threshold? Does a part like this already exist for sale?

Using that area like a truck step is bound to cause wear. My sills have no marks at all.
You could screw on those steps that fit some mini vans.
