Fuel Filter
Yea, I may tackle it myself James.
Anybody know what a "factory" filter price is?
Would a Mercedes SLK filter work?
I understand a dirty filter makes the fuel pump work harder, and that's usually the reason the fuel pump goes bad.
Besides running with the gas tank too empty.

I would not hesitate to use a MANN filter. Chances are that is what you have already with a MB part number. Check here for some ball park figures:

Here is the PN# for the filter

Yep. Very easy x2
I have had a new filter for a few months, but when I took a look at replacing mine, I see those factory squeeze clamps on all the hoses. What do you do ? Just cut them off and reuse screw clamps ?

Olathe Chrysler (KC area) wanted $299 to install a fuel filter & $140 for an oil change.......= $439
I bought a Mann fuel filter & provided the oil & oil filter....local labor.....total parts (FUEL FILTER + OIL FILTER + OIL) & labor = $149

You can find the Mahle fuel filter, which is most likely another source for the factory OEM unit, for 15-20% less than the Mann filter. Just do a search for the Chrysler Crossfire Fuel Filter and quite a few websites pop up that list both versions. The Mann will be $55-$60; the Mahle will be $40-48. Both are typically stocked.
And if you look around in eBay, per the link above, you'll find quite a few sources of fuel filters at even lower costs. Sticking to a Mann or Mahle in this application is probably not necessary. Just about anyone's filter will work. Heck - most are made by only a couple of suppliers and then labeled with someone else's part number.

I just had mine replaced yesterday. Part + labor was $160. In all honesty, I could've probably done it myself but I'm running out of space in my garage and I don't particularly fond of playing with fuel.

Edit: My bad, it's $55
The filter and pump are mounted right next to each other, just inboard of the right rear wheel. Hidden by a plastic cover. Easy to change out, just have to clamp the lines and relieve the fuel rail pressure before you disconnect to minimize the fuel loss..... oh, having several rags under there with you is a good idea..

Just bought a new filter from Rob. Hopefully will be here by the end of the week so I can get it installed before Carlisle.

I buy these from Rob also. We want to keep Needswings in buss.
A few extra bucks is worth the piece of mind knowing the right/good stuff will be coming to my door. I'm loyal to great service over the lowest cost; most of the time anyway.

I called the MB dealer in Bend, OR and the parts dept quoted me $12.99 for the fleece filter and about $130-$140 for an oil change, including filter, and it also included washing and vaccuming. I have an "05 roadster.
