Left Lights on
So I accidentally left my low beams on for a little less than 2 hours yesterday when I drove to the mall. When I came back it was still day time so I did not notice they were still on
. It was not until about 10min in on the drive home I realized they were already on because I went to switch them and it was already in the "on" position. The car started up fine with no hiccups or problems, should I be concerned? I haven't owned the car long, it's an '04 crossfire with 32k. I get very OCD about stuff like this so bare with me
Normally, you shouldn't have a problem. Maybe just put a battery charger on it for a few hours. and bring it up to full charge. Of course, this depends on your driving habits. If you don't drive it often, or only for short distances.
If you drive it frequently your cars charging system should bring it back up to charge. If you have an original white "Varta" battery, you should start thinking about replacing the battery, because the battery is about 6 yrs old and that's about its life. It may be difficult to think about replacing an "old" battery, especially since it seems to be working OK, but many people here just replace it after 4 to 5 yrs. Just my dos centavos ....

If you have the ORIGINAL battery - I would not THINK about it, I'd replace it before the sun sets tonight!
In today's cars (not just the XF) a bad battery can do WEIRD stuff that can send you off on a wild and expensive goose chase! My Dodge Durango did just that a few years back!
Drawing that many amps off a storage battery IS a problem - modern storage batteries are designed to deliver HUNDREDS of amps for a few seconds to start the engine - they do NOT like to provide 20 amps for two hours. It's all in the chemistry of the cells. If you ran a "deep cycle" marine battery designed for trolling motors, leaving the lights on would be fine. So yes, if it's an old battery, you may have brought it's eventual failure closer.
In any event, I use a "Sure Start" battery in my XF that I got from O'Reilly's. Under $100 - I plan on replacing it every three years to avoid expensive trouble. (A battery every three years is cheaper than a tow and a battery every, say, five years!)
