I saw that...might be worth the $90 bucks, but I haven't been able to ascertain exactly what it does/doesn't do...

Too bad it takes a proprietary USB-to-OBDII connection...

Default Wireless equals bad news

Sorry guys... to me an RF (radio frequency) connection only equals trouble. Knew a guy once who used a bluetooth mouse for his computer for video productions during seminars. Something interfered with the mouse and the machine went nonstop clicking and displaying unwanted things live on stage. Now his business runs on wires!

I found this explaining communication protocols for OBD. What this tells me is when a scanner mfr. is bragging about all the protocols it uses they are merely saying they do nothing more than the government required emissions codes, NOT any auto mfr. specific codes.

What Communications Protocol does my vehicle use?

As a rule of thumb, GM cars and light trucks use SAE J1850 VPW (Variable Pulse Width Modulation). Chrysler products and all European and most Asian imports use ISO 9141 or KWP2000 circuitry. Fords use SAE J1850 PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) communication patterns. All 2008 and newer model year vehicles use CAN.

The Connector

Pin 2 - J1850 Bus+
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground
Pin 5 - Signal Ground
Pin 6 - CAN High (J-2284)
Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Line
Pin 10 - J1850 Bus
Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)
Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L Line
Pin 16 - Battery Power

PLX Kiwi Bluetooth | OBD2 OBDII Android

How do you get the analog signals in exactly? Would this interface with zeitronix if it is on the same laptop?

Yeah, I think I may go with ultraguage afterall. It doesn't look like I can get anything to import into the zeitronix to get everything on one graph unless it is the DashDaq which is $600.00! Thanks!

Just bought the BAFX at Amazon for $24 and it showed up today. I just bought it to simplify having to constantly clear an "EVAP Small Leak" DTC from my Dodge p.u. with the cumbersome programmer. So instead of dragging out the device, hooking the cable, etc., etc., now I can just plug in the BAFX read and clear the codes on my phone. Pretty cool! Paired up the Android and tried it on my '06 Dodge p.u. It seemed to work as advertised. Then to the XF and worked like a champ. No codes to clear on either at this time so just messing with the various screens, etc. So, after about 20 minutes I "had" to have the full version of Torque and for $4.95 it's a deal.

Over all, the whole set up seems to be a bargain to me since the old programmer I bought in '06 with the truck was in excess of $300 and I actually just bought it more to clear DTCs and not so much for setting shift points, etc.

Was concerned about the BSFX hanging down to far so will leave that in the WK2 and spent $13 on Amazon for a Mini. Working well so far.

Another feature of the pro is the "TorqueScan" plugin. That will scan the bus and identify what data points are available. For example most Mopars use MAP but it looks like the Crossfire is MAF.

More once I can use a real tab and not my smartphone.

Picture of mini in place, I went this way to avoid hitting it with my clutch for, those with automagics may not have a problem with the longer one. Keep in mind that I just leave in place, one in Heep has been there for two years.

Works just fine with tab and phone. Now waiting on tab mount to arrive.
