Default Best OBD2 to buy

I'm looking into buying a OBD2 to help diagnose problems with all my cars. I was wondering if people have any suggestions as to the best ones to use or how easy they are to use or any experiences in general.
I'm looking at the Innova 3160 and the 3150. The 3160 has a few extra feature over the 3150 but I'm not sure how much I would use these features. Both will interface with my PC. Thanks

If you have an Android-based smartphone w/bluetooth, I've recently purchased this:

BAFX Products (TM) - ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light and other diagnostics - Android compatible : Amazon.com : Automotive BAFX Products (TM) - ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light and other diagnostics - Android compatible : Amazon.com : Automotive

and this:

Amazon Amazon

It not only works as a code reader/canceller, it. using Torque Pro, app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...l.torque&hl=en

allows you to monitor all of the ECU info for engine parameters. I'm using a 10" Android tablet. Sorry, no iPhone support. As a matter of fact, finding something that works with iOS is either hard or stupid expensive.

I've had a number of dedicated readers over the years and given them all away. Kids, friends, etc. I'm tired of buying them and for $30-$40, this beats them all hollow. Including my Ultragauge!

With a tablet.. do you get a lot of data delay if your logging almost all parameters? I'm using a "no service" LG phone and display gets real laggy when I do. Didn't know if processor power or what.
Dedicated tablet is in the thoughts.

We,, it ain't instant. In my educated SWAG, I'll estimate it at ~ .2-.4 seconds for just the "Dashboard" display with 5 gauges. I haven't played with it all that much.
Automatic Bluetooth pairing, Google maps, HUD: lots of very cool features. All for $38! (Plus the tablet/Android phone, of course).

I do wish I had a 7" tablet, though. 10" is pretty big in our little cars! I found a mount that works, but I'll have to modify it (lengthen) to put it right where I want it. Centered above the radio.

7" tablet noted.. LOL. That phone screen is good for 2 gauges at my age and eyesight..

And like you say.. for the price its a cheap date to see what's going on under the hood!

Now you just need to get serious and find the PID for air/fuel and lambda formula..

I know you love a challenge! LOL

Edit:

Hmm.. mount located at vents.. side hinged.. that you could activate HUD and rotate to display just under the mirror.. ahh.. this never ends.. LOL

Mine came with lifetime warranty! Hope I don't have to test it out though.. probably cost more shipping fees than purchasing again.. LOL.

Alright, now you guys got me thinking maybe I don't want the scanner, why not get the software on my laptop. I have one in my garage that I keep the service manual on, its always online and attached to a printer. I could do diagnosics and research fix's at the same time. Has anyone used ScanXL, Autoenginuity, ELM or others that you would recommend.
Thanks

I know a fellow with autoenginuity with a MB license. We hooked it up to my car to see if it would work and it did. Injector duty cycles, knock sensors, the works. He paid around $500.00. He's an E55AMG guy.

I'm still looking for an affordable OBD software product and one that has diagnostics for the Crossfire. I notice allot of them have enhancements for Ford, GM and others but few have one for Chrysler. I did find one that says they have Chrysler specific diagnostics it's OBDKEY. Its produced by KBM Systems Ltd, in London, ( http://www.obdkey.com/index.asp). Does anybody have any experience with this product. Again I'm looking for a PC based solution and one that is Bluetooth ready.
Thanks

Hate to revive an old thread, but am I understanding that the ELM327 will work with Autoenginuity?

Do any ODBII readers also do the MB CAN BUS? Or do you need the MB version to get which wheel sensor is bad? Is DRBIII the MB version?
