Default Alarm Problems

Hi everyone,

Since a few days i have some problems with my alarm.

First time a Chime(not the alarm) went off under the hood and the alarm stopped working.
I disconnected the battery waited about 5min and the beeping stopped.
Connected everything and problem looked fixed.

2 days later my alarm goes off without any reason. when i unlock the door and re-lock the problem seems to fix itself.

Now my alarm goes off every now en then, about 1 time every 2 days.

Would it help me to change the battery (It still could be the original its a Varta) Although i tested it a few week back and it seemed to be good.

Or could it be a door contact??

Please help me out here, or redirect me to a threat that might help.

Thanks!

(Its about a 2004 Limited Coupe)

If as you say it's a 2004 and you think the OEM battery is still in it, I would certainly start by replacing the battery .....

I'll start with ordering the battery.

This should be the one:

VARTA 574012068 C4 BLUE dynamic E11 12V 74Ah(20h) Start / Licht accu batterij - Advitek Marine Systems A.M.S. B.V.

You were living on borrowed time with that battery anyway. It could have gone when you were least expecting it and caused a lot of trouble.
I have no ideas on your problems, but do you have water in the trunk at all?
It could be an alarm problem itself though.
Or a switch somewhere.

One thing we need to remember when responding to posts regarding Varta batteries :
Here in the states or Canada, a Varta is 99% sure to be an OEM original battery, in Europe, that is not always the case. You can buy NEW Varta batteries there.

Youre right, battery lived long enough for 9 years. I'll check to see if there's any water in the trunk.
Past few time's i sometimes trigger the alarm by unlocking the doors (not the actual alarm but a beep.. beep. beep. sound).
There's a battery in the Alarm-module does it have to be replaced sometime?
Anyway i'll try so things out, hoping to find the problem.
If there's an easy way to just kill the whole alarm it would work as well for me.

I'm pretty sure this one was the original because it had the Mopar and Chysler sticker on it. I bought a Varta back indeed, not hard to find here.
