Default Automatic transmission whine

Guys,
I recently purchased a 2005 LTD Conv. with 46,000 miles (automatic transmission). The transmission whines in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. It this a Crossfire trait or do I have an issue? Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark

Anyone have an opinion on this or past history with your car????? The trans also produces the same whine if the car is in park and you rev the engine. Any opinions??

Are you sure it's the transmission? If it does it in park it may be a pulley. Pop your hood and listen to them. If it is a pulley change it out before it explodes and makes a bigger mess.

The reason I ASSUMED it was the trany is the whine increases with the RPM's and it is directly underneath the car. Thanks for the input on my issue. Any further input is much appreciated...

Your pulleys also increase is spinning speed with an increase in the RPMs. I'd take Witchal's advice and get an ear under the hood and see if you can pin point it.

You say it happens in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear is that true or not?
Confusing clues are not helpful.
