This isn't very easy. I had to get mine out in order to re-attach the light to the ash tray as it got moved when a chap fitted my mobile phone car kit. In order to get to it you need to remove the radio, remove the plastic dash surround, remove 4 screws holding the center console in, remove the gear stick surround and center console cover to get to the bottom two screws, then push the lower section on one side to take it out diagonally. It isn't that easy as you have to pull so much other stull out first but once you've done it once it is ok.

Is there really supposed to be a light in the ashtray?

Yes. There is a small bulb dedicated to it.

im so freaking pissed!!!
ugh!!!!!
so last week my ashtray went **** up decided not to lock and just stay open, then a couple of days after that my cup holder decided to misbehave as well and now it will not shut either. very upsetting. ok so i got a universal din kit and took the radio out i removed the two screws on the inside where the radio was. but the god damn face wont come out!!! i know its" hooked" in there but ive no idea how to get the god damn thing out!!!!! it kills me on the inside. i mean it wont move down so i move it up and there is slack, do i need to push up then out of what?! if someone has done this before and has a pic of the face out where i can see behing to get an idea of how it hooks in place that would be great. also how hard would it be to get my cup holder to stay down, i dont care if i ever use it again i just need it to not look so damn ghetto when i have people in my car. please reply asap as i need to get this fixed before the weekend. also has anyone had any electrical short issues resulting with lights burning out and then working after the car has been turned off then on again? speakers not working on one side of the car (switches sides). please get a hold of me asap. i need help x-fire owners!!!!
thanks!

As far as the radio goes, there are Becker 'keys' you need to stick in the two small slots in the front of your radio, they will release the clips and you can slide it out effortlessly, it is a security thing. I am unaware why you would need a dash kit as we have a perfect 1 DIN opening from the factory, maybe you can enlighten us??

I would try some custom car audio shops around your place if you need a fix quick, if not, email Becker, who made our radio, and ask for some keys, they sent mine out in about a week, FREE!!

Hope this helps....
