Default Dash light replacement

One of the instrument cluster bulbs for the speedometer is out ( and I have not found how to replace in the service manual .) Could someone point me to the section/page or tell me what the replacement bulb is ?

Owner's manual just says "see your authorized dealer"..

Thank you,

When it says "see your authorized dealer", it really means see your friendly Crossfire forum.
This shows how to change the bulb colors in the dash so it shows you how to get to the bulb I'm guessing.

Section 8J of the service manual tells you what you want to know.
It looks like a real mess to me, but it is probably not that bad - you will first removed the steering wheel, then the lower dash panel (easy) then the instrument cluster (does not look too bad).

The service manual is downloadable in post 1 here:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html

Here is a hint: If the owner's manual says "see the dealer" you should read that as either:

"Take the car to an independent shop that works on MBs"
or
"Open the service manual and fix it yourself".

I was gonna tell him to look at that thread, but I though we'd get less questions from him if we turned him onto the service manual.

Sorry, I did find 8J but that just told me how to remove the cluster and not how (or if) the light bulbs were replaceable.

Now that I know they are am trying to determine how many of what to buy. Have a German MB part number but wonder if it crosses to anything American (like a 194 wedge).

If you know the number tell us what it is, otherwise nobody will bother to find it out and give you an answer. Make sense?

I just removed my dash to replace a burnt out blub, in fact two were bad. I didn't have to remove the steering wheel. I had the lower part of the dash down to the floor board due to fixing the key assembly, so while I was at it, I thought now would be a good time to replace those blubs. After removing the obvious trim, I just worked the speedometer assembly out, unplugging the left side until I finally got it out of it's home and parallel to the steering wheel and then just slid it out to the left. Nothing was broke, but it does take a little time to find the exact position to slide it out, but it will come out.

I used a 194 led bulb, works perfect and is nice and bright. Something like these
