Default Strange Issue - Likely vacuum related.

I am experiencing a very strange occurrence with my 2005Crossfire Limited. It seems that the brakes, perhaps just the front, seem to bedragging after the car is driven for about 10 minutes. No brake work has beendone to the car, and the fluid level has never dropped in the reservoir. Aswell, the brake pedal is all the way up and the car otherwise operatesnormally. No CE light is present either.

I know it is the brakes because you can feel the slightresistance when rolling over bumps and anomalies in the road. It feels asthough the alignment is out of whack…but it isn’t. It also pulls to one side orthe other if one tire hits a pothole on that side. And it does not happen to the same degree all the time like an alignment would (I drive the same route every day).

I’m thinking it is something with the vacuum brake assist,as the problem is not there when the car first gets going and on level roadswhere the engine is not under strain. But after the car has been running a bitor going up and down hills, you can feel it grab. As well, if you are going upa steep hill, you can feel the car get sluggish. The car does not feel looseand free like it once did, and seems to be down on power, but I’m thinking whenthe power is needed, the extra vacuum from the engine is causing the issue. Ican also kind of “reset” the car a bit by releasing the vacuum in the system, but it just clamps down again a few miles later. Some days are also better thanother.

Any ideas? I’m really flummoxed with this one, and I’mafraid this will be a multi-thousand dollar witch hunt at the shop. Thanks inadvance!

I'm guessing that a brake cylinder is stuck or a shoe cannot release because the shoe carrier is jammed up. The heat generated will make it worse after a while when driving. Look for a rotor with an odd wear pattern and is hotter than the other side.

You may want to flush the brake fluid if not already done. Have you done anything with the TB mod? Maybe the vac hose was not re-attached correctly. A dragging brke cylinder in the caliper may be the whole problem.
