Clunking Noise From Parcel Shelf Area
Hi guys, gals,
I have a 04' coupe and have been loving it since the day I have had it.
I recently noticed (in the last week) a clunking noise as if something metalic is hitting something else when I drive over bumps.
I initially thought it might have something to do with the suspension, so I went to the back of the car and pushed down on the rear of the car, but couldn't hear any noise.
My friend offered to jump in the boot so that he can listen to pin-point where the sound is coming from (rear left, rear right, rear center, etc.) and he told me that it sounds like it's coming from the parcel shelf which is between the boot and the front seats.
Is it possible that something is loose inside the parcel shelf compartment? And is it something that can be fixed by myself?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys/gals.

Maybe it is the welding on the roll bar bracket, maybe not too visible as it is behind the wheel and attached to the trunk floor.
It has happened before, go here.
It has happened before, go here.
And would this mean that I can fix this issue with some welding?
The repair is basically simple but needs some thought and a doubler welded in place to share the load around.
Do I simply jack the rear end of the car up and look under the wheel arch?
Or do I a take the boot inner-lining out and look there?
Yeah, I said roll bar, sway bar.
Go here as well.
and here.
