Car Alarm Not Deactivating and No Start-Help!
Went out to unlock my 04 Crossfire and found the pushbutton on my key was not getting any response from the car. Unlocked the door manually and opened it only to set off the alarm. Tried to start the car, first time car started and immediately died, now I turn the key and nothing. Not even the starter motor engages. Full battery power and after the alarm quiets down and resets opening the door again sets it off again and still no power to the starter motor.
Anyone experience this before? Any ideas what the trouble is? Does the anti-theft system disable (or interrupt) power to the starter motor in this car?
Thanks,
-George-

Currently, or previously? What was the fault? My mechanic told me when he worked on the ingition lock fix last week he said the car needed a jump to start, and then when he was done it needed to be jumped again. I told him he sould have just replaced the battery since I have no idea how old the battery even is. He says low battery or voltage dips can screw up the alarm systems and then they need to be reset or at least re-powered up. The car behaves according to him, as though it "thinks it is being stolen" and he suspects that the anti theft system cuts power to the ingition and also cuts power to the starter motor. We tried both keys and neither one will remotely operate the door locks or alarm system. No flashing lights, no response. However when you open the door the alarm goes off and when you insert the key and turn it to start the idiot lights on the dash come on.
Anyone experience this problem and have it repaired? What was the cause????

OK Friends, Here is an update: talked to my mechanic on this tonight, he says the battery is fine but otherwise hasn't had a chance to work on this basically because due to the extreme cold the car is kinda frozen into the ice and he has to figure out how to get it free so he can get it into his bay. However I did tell him about the disconnecting the battery fo a few moments and then reconnecting it to reset the anti theft interrupt to the starter motor.
One thing that he mentioned to me was that this occurred only 5 days after I got it back from him after he repaired the sticky ignition lock fix. In that repair he had to drill out the pin to get the assembly out and then opened the door in the back and removed the pin and apring. He put it all back together and it worked fine except he notised that even with that pin and spring removed the steering column still locked when the key was removed. He thought that was extremely odd and is wondering if something occurred that would cause the car to "think" it was being stolen, and therefore for the SKREEM module or anti theft system in general to interrupt power to the ecm and cause the fob not to unlock the doorsm etc.
As I said earlier, I drove the car in to work and all was perfecly alright. Locked the car and went into the office. About 8 hrs later comae out and no reaction to the fob and set the alarm off when I unlocked the door manually and opened it. First time I turned the starter it started them immediately stalled. Tried a second time and it did the same thing, only stalled out a bit faster (actually just chugged once). THird time no power to the starter motor, turned the key and nada.
Any ideas, guys???????
And if I have to ultimately have this car taken to a Chrysler dealership any ideas what SKREEM module diagnosis and repair costs in the USA??? I've have this car barely 6 months and until the ignition loced up it was absolutely perfect.......

Another idea is why can't my Indy replace the module if it turns out to be the problem and simply sublet out the programming to the nearest Chrysler dealership?? Seems a dealer would jump at the chance to grab a quick $100 or so for a few minutes work... Z
OK, My Indy has repaired the car. According to him, he found the trouble to be a frozen (stuck) glove box door sensor. According to him, the glove box door is interconnected with the anti theft system and opening that door with the car locked will set the system off. He claims that he has researched the issue and found numerous postings from other Crossfire and SLK owners about this so the problem is supposedly well known and well documented.
Anyone else experience this?

Did a search on this site and found confirmation that a bad glove box switch could cause the problem.
