Default Replace key cylinder housing and housing

The ignition is completely locked up because the housing assembly is not functional. I am told that the housing (#2 on the attachment $548) and the key cylinder housing (#9 on the attachment $288). These are new and would be mapped to my current key.

Another option is to replace the steering column with a used column ($325). However, the key would be different than the door

I prefer the cheaper option.

Any advice for this problem?

Have you reviewed the "Stickey Ignition Key" thread ?

or the PDF : https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...key-fix_v2.pdf

I am sure you would prefer the really cheapest option which costs zero dollars just some of your time, maybe 90 minutes. The instructions are pretty foolproof and they come with pictures.
Do not use the above PDF in ala_xfires post as it is out of date, like me. It is version 2, you need version 5.
Use this one.

Note to Mods.

Version #2 of the PDF is obsolete and keeps popping up, it is in the first post on the subject of the sticky ignition and repeated through the whole thread until version 5 appears.

There are two stickies on the Sticky Ignition fix, Hirch's and mine. Mine only offers the quick link to the latest version #5

Inside your skull only morticians and coroners see it.
You know when you have reached your best before date though.

The sticky key ignition thread only fixes a portion of what needs to be replaced.

The entire ignition key housing and the housing holding the ignition key housing need to be replaced.

Items 2 & 9 in the diagram.

I have decided to replace the entire steering column.

Spend all the money you want to - but I do not understand why you think all these parts are bad.
I've been on here over four years and have never heard of those items going bad - the "stick key" thing is REAL common, it even got me back in 2011, but I don't know of anyone who has had to replace actual parts.

Your problem can be fixed for nothing, how cheap and simple can it be?

You have been told by people who have had the same problem what to do. However, you insist on doing what someone, who probably has no idea what they are talking about has convinced you to do.

If replacing the column means you will get a different ignition assembly then you most probably will get the same problem later. They all fail at some time except for the newer ones that do not have the part that fails in them anymore, the mod above removes it
If you are going to put the ignition assembly from your car into the replacement steering column then you will have the same problem you have now immediately.
