Surging and rough idle with NO check engine light
2005 Crossfire (base model, manual) lightly surges when accelerating. When in neutral, RMPs jump from 1000 - 2500 intermittently, but car never actually dies. Check engine light has NEVER come on. Also ear a clicking sound or valve opening and closing in gas tank area after I start the car and sitting in park.
Took car to shop today and was told 7 codes popped up. Shop wants to charge me $400 just for additional testing stating testing could take up to 7 hours and that does not include actually fixing the car!! I am not going to have them run anymore tests. This price seems like a red flag to me.
CODES SHOWING UP ACCORDING TO THE SHOP ARE:
P0335 Crankshaft position sensor circuit
P0412 Secondary Air Injection ECT switch over solenoid circuit signal error/open
P0403 EGR control circuit signal error/open
P0135 O2 Sensor 1/1 heater circuit open
P0155 O2 sensor 2/1 Heater circuit open
P0455 EVAP system large leak
Code 4 Short Runner Solenoid P2900 Circuit low
I have read that replacing the crankshaft position sensors yourself is not that difficult. I plan on asking my sone to do this for me, but wondered if some of the other codes are due to total different issues? For instance the EVAP system leak?
My regular mechanic rolls his eyes, sighs and says "Ugh it's YOU again. I hate your car!" whenever I pull up to his shop. Then he proceeds to tell me what a piece of S_ _ T Crossfires are and I need to get rid of it. I don't plan on taking my car to him anymore, but cannot seem to find a honest dealership around me. If I had a good idea what the problem might be, I would feel better when taking it to a shop. I've heard it's good to take Crossfires to a Mercedes dealership instead of a Chrysler dealership. Maybe I'll try that when I hit the lottery!

Make a list or print out the best answers and work through the list.
P0335 may be the CPS connecter at the sensor, recently just cleaning the connector contacts has solved the problem, no promises though.
