Default Need tech advice (intercooler pump)

I have to replace my intercooler pump. I bought the updated model ending in 10.

Since I can't get at the ears on the hose clamps (they're straight up) I will have to cut the hoses. The question is : Do I have to replace those hoses with braided ones or will standard unbraided ones fill the bill. I can't believe the pressure is that high but thought I'd ask.

Second question: Will the old "02" connecter plug into the new "10" Bosch model.

Lastly: I dropped the whole splash pan but not the passenger side plastic panel. Does that make it any easier to get the clamps off?

Don't cut anything. Remove the bolts that hold the pump in place, then disconnect the hoses.

A smart answer if ever there was one.

Both pumps use the same connector. I just helped a forum member this week change his out.

I removed the wheel, then the front inner splash panel to make it very easy. I have several different type of spring clamp pliers that made removing the clamps very easy.

Also I used two pinch off pliers and only lost about 4oz. of coolant.

Here are some pics taken when I changed my pump, it shows the use of hose clamps which made the job easier.

No need dropping the splash pan. This will show you what needs removing...

Actually I finally had to drop the splash pan to gain access to the hidden 10mm nut.

You beat me to posting this, it was overlooked in the Johnson pump how to. The nut is on the underside of the frame, the stud for the nut is pointing down vertically and it attaches the forward end of the front fender liner to the frame of the car.

Ok, thanks to you all, I got the intercooler pump off. It doesn't look obvious to me to get it out of the bracket. I may be missing something but I've learned to ask first before I destroy parts. Any hints?

Ok, I got some sunlight on it and it's pretty obvious. That rubber mount looked like metal to me last night in crummy light with my glasses off. I'm good now. Just a hammer and a little lubricant did the trick.
