Default 2004 crossfire key stuck in ignition

Hey guys,
I have a 2004 crossfire coupe with about 134,000 miles on it. up until a couple months ago the car had been a dream with no issues whatsoever. Then it hit the fan. First the fuel control module started going out which led me to replace the crank position sensor and later the relay itself when I identified that was the issue. Then not 15 minutes after i installed the new relay and was basking in the victory of driving my car again. The shifter stuck in park. Then after finally noticing the small trap door below the "D" which covers the shifter release i was able to shift out of park.
Now i can shift in and out of park as much as i like but i cannot remove my key from the ignition. The steering wheel lock also no longer engages which i feel must be related. Even with the motor off i can rotate the tires however i please. Has anyone else ever encountered this issue? My key still turns and starts the car just fine but i cannot remove it from the ignition. Car runs and drives like a dream.

On another note when the fuel pump control module went out the car sat for a month or two with the rear spoiler extended and now the interior switch wont work. Where should i start troubleshooting this issue?

Thank you.

If I recall the park lock interconnect is a cable. Did you leave something pushed into the park release near the shifter? If so the other end would be pulled from the ignition switch not allowing it to sense it is in park. Maybe the release stuck in release mode. Just guesses.

I just checked the release and it seems to be returning correctly. Before I found out about the shifter release port, I popped all the interior pieces covering the shifter off. On the top right of the shifter cover there is a hole which had a small half circle in it. I pushed it in hoping it was the release. Do you know what that thing I pushed in is?

Is it shown in this picture? Picture from usedmodel21's post on paddle shifters.

No the hole is not shown in this picture. It is on the right hand side of the shifter cover, out of view.

Did you replace the relay control module? Or re-solder the board in it? The fuel pump and traction relay are also part of that module and you are having related parts "failures" so you might want to check all of the connections at the RCM.

How old is the battery? Had it ever gone dead or been very low. These cars on't like low voltage.

Were you able to check the park cable interconnect to the ign switch?

I first re-soldered the board in the RCM and when that didn't work i ordered a new unit. When i was trying to recondition the old RCM unit I greased the connections with electrical connection grease. Could this cause any issue if there is residual residue on my new RCM?

Yes the battery has died multiple times but is fairly new and i fully charged it the day it stuck in park.

Do i have to disassemble the dash to "check the park cable interconnect to the ignition switch"?

The PDF in this thread will help with the parking cable location in the dash. It usually goes to the shifter in most cars. I have a stick in the Xf so I am not sure.

I am not a fan of anything on the bare metal mating surfaces of connectors. Is that where you put it? I am OK with a water repellant grease on the weather sealing surfaces of a connector housing where the plug mates with the housing.

I was hoping you saw the park cable interconnect when you had the console apart and shifter exposed. Do you recall seeing it? Yes the sticky key mod PDF shows where it is at the other end.

Again the cable interconnect is just a guess but that is where I would start with the symptoms you describe if this were happening to my car .
