My fan isn't running... checked it with battery charger... it spins up.

Found a used FCM on evilBay... be here on the 9th.

Need to bypass somehow for now as we need transportation for short trips around town until the part comes in.

Any ideas...?

You might try wiring something like a headlight bulb in series, but DO NOT wire the fan directly.

Me neither, forget what I said - that won't work. You need a PWM ( pulse width modulation ) type controller to control the fan, that is what the fan module does.

Seems this thing is not able to be bypassed then...

Any luck servicing one of these modules to refurb status...? Process...? Anybody...?

I've got the used one on the way... but that's 8-9 days out.

I think I'm gonna hand it off to my guitar tech and let him tear into it. He's an electronics guru deluxe.

Maybe he will come up with something to contribute to the community here.

You have checked the fuse by swapping them over?.

Ok... bewildered for sure. Fan control module arrived today. No change.

Fuse tested good. Fan tested good. Confirmed working module did not provide a fix.

Checked all other fuses in the box. All good... no fan.

I gotta figure this thing out... any clues...?

How did you test the fuse? Did you actually swap the fuses over or test it?

I did the same. I took the fuse box apart, removed all the fuses, cleaned the contacts replaced the fan fuse with a new one, started the engine with the ac on full and the fan started straight away.

Is the "Low Coolant" light on? I mean, start car, do you see this on the left side of the dash?

The AC control on the console sometimes fails and causes problems. If the fan speed switch is turned all the way to the left, anti clockwise, the AC does not switch on so I guess if this control has failed then the AC and the engine fan could possibly not work. There is a thread on how to make the contacts on this module connect properly. It is a lot of work but might be worth it.
Does the fan work on a hot engine? Maybe I missed the answer to that question as it is an obvious one for someone to ask.
