Question Stalling

I have a 2004 coupe. Whenever I accelerate quickly, the car will lose power, lose power steering, all the dash lights come on, and I have to turn it off and back on then everything is fine. The check engine light will come on and it says it's the crankshaft position sensor, usually the light will go off on its own.

I replaced that sensor, and it was still doing the same thing, so I replaced it again, still having the same problem. Any ideas what else could be going on?

I just watched a video on Youtube, that does seem like a reasonable problem. I'll definitely check into that.

What brand of cps sensor did you use? With the engine running wiggle the cps connector plug to see if the engine stalls. If you use a cps other than the bosch sensor you can get a loose connection causing it to stall.

Reset the ecu and see if the error stay the same. It could be a fuel starvation problem.

I used Import Direct from O'Reilly. I did the wiggle like you said and it did stall if I shook it too much.

Try gently putting a small twist on the pins in the CPS to cause them to make better contact with the connector.

I was having the same problem with the sensor I bought at Autozone. I bent the contact blades in the sensor so they were slightly uneven and it solved the problem. I did end up replacing it with this one
Amazon.com: Bosch 0261210170 Crank Position Sensor: Automotive Amazon.com: Bosch 0261210170 Crank Position Sensor: Automotive
and kept the one from Autozone for a spare. The prongs on the generic cps are thinner then the bosch sensor so it doesn't make a tight connection.

I took the negative battery cable off for about 15 minutes, put it back on, went and drove it for about 45 minutes. It didn't stall one time. Thank you for the help! This forum is seriously awesome.
