Question about Remote
Is there a way to switch keys if I got another remote where the key is already cut? My remote already looks pretty darn worn out from being dropped. I see that there might be a way but I have no idea what tool to use. Anyone have suggestions?
The key remote has a chip in it that is car specific. If it wasn't programmed to your car, it won't work. The key won't start your car with a different remote.
How long have you had your car? Quit dropping the key.
Where did you get another one? I know someone who's missing their 2nd one.

when i bought my car, it only came with the one key that had been used when the car was a demo model. it was horrible looking, so the dealership ordered me two new keys to go with my new car. it was odd, though, becasue the buttons did not work until i had started the car and shut it off with that key. almost like the remote had to "learn" which car it was unlocking, etc. the point is... i dont think the fobs are car-specific; it depends on which key is attached to them. i could definiely be wrong. get on ebay and find a key remote and give it a shot.
Well I've had my car for a year. Just the red plastic on is chipped and it annoys me. I am not even sure its from me dropping it, I think its when the dealer was working on a rattle and they did it. I do have an extra remote from ebay but I can't figure out a way to remove the pin. I think you can reprogram the car to another remote, right? I hope so.
