This thread seems filled with misinformation, nothing new these days I guess.
So much so that I have completely lost track of what happens when an attempt to start the car is made. Maybe a new list of what does happen would help.

In the future, you need to jump on these threads and keep them on track. You can't expect us newbies to know anything.

You are hardly a newbie. LOL
Us old geezers get confused easily, there was one thread then there are two and the starter ws thought to be NFG, then it spins the engine OK.
As I say I am completely lost and can offer no ideas.

I finally got the starter to turnover (but not with the key), so my focus is now on the RCM, Pulse Module, and Skreem. I've ordered the Skreem, and mailed my RCM's and Pulse Module to Steve Jr in Knoxville, TN to test for me. Lots of great people on this forum.
Last one I bought was a genuine Mercedes Benz and I paid $225 plus tax. My daily driver and I needed it ASap and had no choice it was the only one within driving distance of where I live.

Reason: Correction
How did you get the starter to turn over? Is it consistent? Did you chase the wires back to the source of the trouble? If power on the starter works, but the key doesn't, move the power source slowly further and further away from the starter until you identify the trouble.

I ran 12V though the wire that runs from Pin 1F and the starter and the car cranked over. I'm not sure why it didn't work last time, but it works now. I also tested and I'm getting voltage to the coils and CPS. I don't know the fuel pressure, but I did confirm the fuel pump is running by draining fuel fuel pressure from the shrader valve and seeing it return with a key cycle.

You can buy them on eBay quite cheap, I got one for $45, there are older models of them for other Mercedes and they are cheaper and work the same. Turbomar used one and had no problems, he lists the part number in his post on the subject. Basically the only thing that goes wrong with them are the relays and they can be fix quite cheaply.
If you have problems with a RCM check the fuses, poor soldering and look for burnt out contacts and windings on the relays.

Dave, the one that came in our Crossfires is 170 545 0305.
I have used an older SLK230 module 210 540 0072 and it works just fine.

The one you used is the one Turbomar used back in April 2013. So that is good one and cheaper than the one specified for the Crossfire, I think larger fuses are used In some or all sockets.
OK ...so we have now ruled out the pulse module and the RCMs. We tested them on my car. We put the pulse module in ,then tested both RCMs separately. He has also got a new SKREEM module an key from Rob , all he's waiting on is the USPS to deliver a package. We may have to close this thread, for several months...lol. What about tires an rims? Here's your warning ; if your on a strip , Grip Grip is coming to rip. Have your time slips ready,, stay in your lane an steady. When the light turn green, its not a time to dream. You've lost the race, now make up excuses to save face. Grip Grip is here to race!

Sorry, I was bored..
LOL!!!
Big thanks to Steve JR for stepping up and testing the RCM and Pulse Module for me yesterday. He even shipped it back out the same day, crazy!.
