Engine Fan - 1 speed?
Hi All - well bought my Crossfire a few months ago an enjoying it so far!
My air con doesn't work and I have the erratic fan speed issues - all of which I'm looking into, so far replaced the control module on the dash to no effect so might look at the resistor and blower motor next.
MY engine fan only seems to have one speed though and i'm wondering if this is something to do with the air con also. When the temperature gets to half way the fan comes on (slowly really..not really fast anyway) and does cool the temp down and goes off, comes back on again etc but I've only seen it operating at one speed and wondered if this was correct?

The engine fan is variable speed, it runs just enough to keep the coolant around 205F as a maximum. If your needle BARELY goes above 1/2 way, all is working as designed.

The A/C controls tell the ECU when the A/C is turned on, this way, the ECU can:
1) Be prepared to throttle up for the additional load.
2) Command the fan to run so the condenser has air flow across it.
3) If the ECU senses any issue with the engine fan, it tells the A/C controls to not engage the A/C, as the additional heat and workload of an operating A/C are not a good idea with a compromised cooling system.

Ah, so as you point out in #3, it could be something up with the engine fan.
Strange, I do hear the engine fan come on for about 5 secs as the car is warming up, always does this, I assumed this was just a 'test' the engine was performing after driving for about 5 mins.

I do not think that you hear the engine fan at startup, you hear the secondary air injection pump.
Raise the hood and start the engine cold, you will see that I am right.
