wont start
help please my wife has an 05 crossfire that will not start. we had to have it towed home the other day. it has done this before and i changed the the pcm and it fixed the problem. so now the radio works windows etc but i will not crank at all no starter engagement. so now im wondering if the rcm went bad again although i did resolder the old one and still nothing. so im thinking maybe the crank sensor or ???? also can anyone tell how to check the crank sensor with basic electrical tools. thanks for the help

Many times the relays in the RCM wear out, it is not always the solder joints. Either send it to tighend or buy a replacement for about 130.00. An inexpensive place to start.
Ditto: ZERACER...search tighed1 and/or look for his e-mail address.
thx for all the help but still no crank. lights seat windows etc work, battery checked and is good replaced the rcm today and still nothing. so now im stumped if anyone has any ideas id love to hear them. I have no crank no nothing under the hood like it wants to start. thx again

In the front of the same box as the RCM is connector C106. That connector has a wire in it that comes from the pulse module and energizes the starter - it is in position 6 of C106 (there are a total of 8 positions in this connector but only 6 are used). The "socket" side of that connector goes to the starter (Engine Side) and the "pin" side comes from the pulse module (Engine Compartment Side). You can take a piece of 14GA wire and make a jumper (I used 12GA ROMEX) and jump from "socket" #6 to the positive post on the battery and your starter should engage - that will prove your starter is good.
Then, with a DVM, read the voltage on "pin" #6 when the key is turned to the start position - it should be 12+ volts and should hold that voltage for a few seconds. Mine only has voltage for about a half of a second. Can you check your voltage there and see what you are getting?
so i jumped #6 to the positive side of the battery and nothing, no starter engagement but it did have a small spark at the battery. so can i assume that the starter is bad?
We're you able to get a voltage reading and duration from the "pin" in the #6 position when the key is turned to start?
