Default AC blower Motor fried BUT..do i replace it ALL?

Picked up a 05 coupe and with the help of the forum starting pulling out the blower motor and it is burnt so I ordered a replacement. My question is do I replace the resister just because I ordered a new one or is it safe to say it is still fine? Once I saw the locked up motor that had been wet I stopped testing. First post but I had ordered the resister before tearing into the blower box. I have been cleaning the drains so it does not happen again.

The resister is not that expensive, I'd go with a new one just for peace of mind.

I agree sir, thank you so much for the quick response. I had ordered it already so I will put it on the new motor when it arrives and should be good in that area. When i got the car I did notice some moisture on the passengers side floor and once I got into the cabin filter it was soaked and the fan was black and burnt looking. I have attempted to clean the two drain tubes i found on the firewall and will research to find ALL and clean them. filter and motor will be here this week.

No problem Greg, love that business you are running - I once had a 69 CB750 along with a matching Z50 (I think that was the model), had them both painted Daytona Blue to match my 67 Camero.

I love these old bikes and grew up riding/racing them. Now that they turned 50 years old folks are going crazy over them. I just sold a SL350 restored for just shy of 10k. They were much less than that back in 1971. Thanks for the help. If you ever need ANY old Honda just give us a shout.

Those were the Days!!

Had several motorcycles over the years, got my first new Honda in 66, maybe 67, don’t remember for sure. It was a 160 Dream. Remember the whitewalls?

Yes Sir, they called the "Baby Dreams" because it was designed like the 305 Dream. Dont come across them often, I think I have seen one in all my travels getting bikes. I just came across a bike bone yard that has close to 500 Classic bikes, I came out with 17 CT70's and will be returning for a bigger load next time. A few classic cars also, 69 C-10 Trucks, etc. i was in heaven. Love the old stuff. I just finished a CT70 that I sent to Cali last week, 1972 and it turned out well. I do all the work myself except for the paint. Thanks for the Welcome, this is a great and helpful forum. GG in TN

I am finding water in the floor of the car so now I am seeing why the fan motor is fried and maybe why the left channel of the radio is not working. I found some info using search and will have to get the cowl off to clean the area.

You have got to open up the compartment below the passenger side floor, and dry that water up. It'll only get worse if you leave it alone. If the car is stored outside, put a cover on it until you get the drains issue resolved. If I remember correctly, there are 4 different drains to clean total. Sounds to me you already need a replacement amp for the stereo, it seems. Good luck!

I ended up getting the drains cleaned and the ones on the passenger side were clogged. buttoned it up only to realize i left my shop light inside the cowl! now I need to address the amp issue since I know i have power from the Sony head unit but no left channel.

WELL the good news is after help from the forum I now have AC and it blows cold. BUT somehow in the event of messing with the fuse box changing out the fuse for the fan I now have the ESP/BAS & ABS light on. I cant stand idiot lights on the dash and was about to tackle the TPS fix leaving only the airbag light which I know I will have to accept.

First thanks for the help on the AC fuse. They had fuses All jacked up so I took a minute to try to put the correct fuses in the right places. I now have ice cold ac. I did notice the speed **** was acting odd but after turning it from 0 to 5 several times it worked great. But somehow I have screwed up and got new lights on the dash and it pisses me off that I may have screwed something up. I will check into the crp123 but had read it was a abs module most of the time or something like that. I really want to keep the car but it seems like one step forward two steps back. Its to early to start drinking . .LoL I hate idiot lights with a passion.

I see the scanner you mentioned is like 120 with lifetime updates, is that what you use? is it like a TECH II for GM cars? Will it reset this ESP abs stuff or do you know? thanks again for all the help. MY AC is ice cold!

Yes, I have that scanner, I am not familiar with the GM TECH II tool.
It will reset ABS stuff according to the uTube video, although I have not tried it.

I ordered it ! I screwed up my windshield frame yesterday thinking they were aluminum and was going to remove the clear that was peeling and polish. BAD move So I guess I am going to have them repainted to color of the car or something. Also someone come to get some parts yesterday and they slammed into the back of my XF and almost ran over my wife. People . . .I hate Em.
