I am looking for suggestions. My '04 coupe w 32K actual mileage, has a very hard shift from P to D or R. The check engine, (i believe) steering, ABS, BAS/ESP lights are all on, the spoiler is up, switch flashing, and spoiler wont come down. I teach HS automechanics, and have a MAC Mentor scan tool. I have codes 2310- controller network communication w traction system malfunction, and 2108-shift pressure control solenoid valve malfunction showing up. I replaced the trans conductor plate and correct fluid, I swapped in a used Trans Control Module w the same numbers as mine (read that it could be done without reprogramming), installed a new OEM ABS module, and have done the steering wheel right to left to center thing. I took it to our local Chrysler dealer and after $200 they told me the same thing I already knew using my scan tool. They wanted $1900 to install the ABS module and "if that didnt do it, they would have to look at the next step". so I feel I am on my own to figure this out. I would rather try replacing parts than pay a dealer to do the same. ANY suggestions? Is the controller network with traction system malfunction a ECM or a Trans Control module problem? Or could I have a shift pressure solenoid bad and which of the 4 valves would that be? I have never had a car w so few miles have so many problems. I love the looks of the car but not being able to drive it is frustrating. I am open to ANY suggestions. Thank you for any suggestions.

Would this affect the trans/communication problem? The car starts and runs great, it the hard shift that is keeping it parked. I should add that it seems to also be drianing the battery fast. It is a brand new battery and I have had to charge it every so often. When I put the cables back on it seems to have a significant draw to it like something is turned on. Thank you for the suggestion. I will look in to it.

I changed my rcm i was having the same issues.

 

It could be a defective BCM Module. Maybe you have can test one from an other Crossfire.

 

agreed. replace RCM. check battery cables / ground. I had that hard shift once. It felt like the car drops lower and a thunk. RCM fixed that.
if you were going into Limp Mode / Dash all lit up -- ABS Module and bleed the brake lines.

seems its never mechanical in these cars ~ it's always electrical. the car is wired like old christmas lights - one bulb goes funny and the string goes out.

 

Thats what I was wondering, especially with the code 2310- controller network communication w traction system malfunction. Something isnt communicating. I feel totally on my own after the dealership charged $200 to scan it, told me what I already knew, and gave me the impression we would start replacing parts until we solved it. I read that a used one, with all the matching numbers can be swapped in, turn the key on for 1 minute for it to recalibrate to my VIN, and it should work without reprogramming? Any experience with that? I also read a MB article that certain radiators would leak coolant into the trans lines and that would result in harsh shift in and out of gear. Remedy: replace trans, trans lines, and radiator. I recently replaced the original trans fluid with the conductor plate and did not notice anything unusual but..... Anyone ever seen that in the crossfire? This thing has 32K miles! Im starting to have second thought about how bad I want the car. I will be moving it soon and plan to have the RCM resoldered and try to locate a used, correct # BCM to try. With the correct # used BCM, It shouldnt cause any problems that arent reversable by putting the original back in is there? Thank you for the suggestion.

 

Send your RCM to DJ TIGHE. He resolders and replaces any bad contacts. If it were me, I would buy a new one and send the old one to TJ for rebuild and then keep it as a spare. Besides the solder the contacts wear out from use.
