Default My Crossfire Nightmare!

I apologize if this gets posted twice. I am writing about my 2006 Chrysler crossfire. For five years I have been dealing with the same issue. I have taken it different Chrysler dealerships to resolve my problem. One day the sunroof stopped working, the radio developed a mind of its own, the spoiler, it’s up sometimes and sometimes the button doesn’t work. I also think there was a problem with the defroster too. And last but not least, the battery drains rapidly and I have replaced it multiple times. The last time I put a new battery in, everything worked and I believed a miracle had happened! NOT!
In the meantime, I was told I needed a new control top module, which I finally found and was able to replace. That did not fix the problem. The technician now says I need a new control lock pump, which of course they can’t get. So my nightmare continues!
I am a female and not really versed in car mechanics, but it seems to me that this is some sort of electrical issue and I don’t know whether or not the control lock pump is relevant. The service manager couldn’t exactly tell me, no surprise! I have looked over some posts, but still clueless.
The car has less than 30000 miles, very good condition, except for this. Can someone please guide me on what to do to fix it, so that I can part with my beloved crossfire as friends, or is there anyone out there that would love to buy it as a project? Until I found this forum, I I felt alone in my crossfire mental illness! Any help would be appreciated!

(A) Never take your Crossfire to a Chrysler Dealer. Only take it to Independent repair shops that work on Mercedes. It is actually a 2003 Mercedes SLK320.
(B) Most of your other issues are battery related. The most likely cause is there are tiny batteries in the alarm siren under the cowl in front of the windshield. When they get old, they leak acid and short out the siren and that runs down and weakens the battery. You can just unplug it or replace it. No one pays attention to the sirens anyway.
(C) The top problem is most likely a sensor. What exactly does it do / not do when you unlatch it from the header? What does it do / not do when you push the button?
(D) Your control lock pump is fine unless you have gotten water in the trunk. What are the symptoms for questioning the control lock pump?
The Chrysler dealer has no idea what they are doing except getting money from you.

Cre:
1. Stay away from Chrysler dealerships, as the post above go to an independent shop that specializes in European/Mercedes automobiles.
2. You can do much of this yourself; start by diagnosing your electrical problem that drains your battery by clicking this link Battery Drai

If "SC" in your profile means South Carolina - we have a guy who can help you with the car. I will ask him to check in here and see if you two can hook up - Zach is quickly becoming a blessing to Crossfire owners all over the eastern part of the USA. He lives near Columbia but travels to 'rescue' Crossfires for their owners.

YOur post is a great testimony as to why my sigline says what it does about dealers.

You are among many knowledgeable Crossfire owners here and several here hold tech days at their homes to help one another resolve issues and do basic maintenance
There are also many regional groups on Facebook for Crossfire owners across the country plus some tech groups too
You are not alone now......Hopefully people here can come to your rescue

I need a blessing! Don’t think that I could fix it myself. I sent you a message, but as for the sunroof, at first the light was not blinking at all. And didn’t respond. Nor did the spoiler. The radio played, but you couldn’t turn it off or change to any modes. The buttons did not respond. Replaced battery. Replaced some fuses. Car would not start after 2 days with new battery. Last battery install, everything worked one day and that was it. Dead again. I think it’s possessed! That’s why I need a crossfire exorcist! If I didn’t joke about it, I would find myself in a padded cell! The dealership service department would rather not see you. I don’t know I guess it’s just me but it just seems ridiculous not to be able to find someone willing to put some time in to work on it! I even spoke with Chrysler customer service, and as you would expect they are no help either! As I said I need someone trustworthy, that will be honest and has knowledge of how to repair this car. I am tired of being taken advantage of. I appreciate I’ll help that I can receive!!

DUH! I fly into GSP every fall for the Dragon and borrow a car from Jeff - he lives near the airport, he'd also be a resource but he works such long hours.

I think Zach and Michele's tech day is the answer!

I don’t know why the controll lock vacuum pump. That’s just what the Chrysler technician said that I needed. Just like I was told that I needed a power top module, which ended up not being the problem. Even though at first, they claimed that the replacement was faulty. I feel like I am in a blender with my Crossfire! Just going round and round! Hoping that before the blender wears out, we can come out of this as a smoothie,

For future reference when issues like these arise shipping to me is always a option. I am very reasonable on price for labor and parts and live near a airport so once the repair is done a fly and drive home is a option. I have customers from all over take advantage of this, seems to save a lot of headache and money in the long run. Downside is that I'm usually booked out a bit.

right now the car is not where I am confident driving it without having a problem. This since I picked it up from the dealership. Do you know anyone who will come to Duncan South Carolina and take a look at it? I am willing to pay to have it looked at and would consider towing it to a location near me! Please if you know anyone in my area that works on crossfires, I would appreciate! I am really trying to bring it back to life!

my crossfire has been out of commission for almost 6 years! I don’t mind waiting to have it fixed. Where are you located? I am in South Carolina and am willing to wait, I am pretty much willing to do anything to avoid junking it! It doesn’t deserve that type of end!

Default Re: My Crossfire Nightmare! From the owner. ******

This is Ms Crossfire Nightmare. I have pretty much discussed all the issues that I’m having. I appreciate all the responses that I have gotten thus far. I don’t think I will be able to drive the car to any tech event, as I am not sure what happened to it when I was at the dealership.

I know you can’t see me, but I am on my knees, begging for someone to put me on the track of getting it fixed. Whatever it takes! Except selling my first born and selling my soul to the devil! Did almost consider that last option! LOL!

I am 60 and a female with not much technical car knowledge. Some repair shops use that to their advantage. And the one guy,exBF, I asked to help me deal with these people, let me down in the worst way. While I have been receiving suggestions, I have no one to help me!(go ahead and get a box of tissues). This forum seems like a trustworthy group of individuals and surely someone knows a Crossfire Doc who I can entrust my ailing Crossfire to!! Someone that might make house calls or where a car ambulance could take it? I know I am being cheesy, but a little bad humor keeps the strait jacket in the closet!!!

I also am not active on facebook, so that limits me. Please please please help me find someone who is willing to evaluate my car. As I said I don’t expect freebies, unless offered, LOL. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount to have someone look at it or take it to fix. I have already had it out of commission for five years, so I am willing to wait. Patiently. I am in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC and will PM any private info as needed.

The car again is 2006, Limited Roadster, with burnt orange, like a basketball, black leather interior and less than 30,000 miles. The car is physically great outside, but internally, suffers some ailments that have yet to be diagnosed properly.

I would be so appreciative, if you could use your vast network here and on Facebook to find someone willing to help. You have my permission to quote any of my comments or posts. I hesitate posting on FB because, I have been burned by people who seemed true hy. Even dealerships. Because I live alone, I have to really be guarded about who I share my personal information with. I hope that helps you understand me better. And again let me state, That in the short time that I have been communicating in this forum, I have received more helpful advise then I have in six years! I really wish I would’ve found you guys earlier! Thank you for all the support thus far!!!!!

I believe that dedwards0323 here on the Crossfire forum is in your area. He may not be able to personally help you but he may know of someone in your area that could. He's been around a while. Good luck!
