Troubleshooting & Technical Questions & ModificationsHave technical or modification questions about the Crossfire?

Hi, You have a great forum with much valuable information. I am replacing the top on a 2005 Crossfire. It looks to be a simple job if it worked properly. I'm pretty sure the top up switch over the passenger's head needs to be replaced, and the lift cylinders have to be sent out and rebuilt. I was able to unlock and release the rear bow with a 6 mm allen wrench. Using the tool that came with the vehicle, I tried to unlock the deck lid. It will raise up about an inch but not unlock, and spring back down. I followed the directions in the manual to relieve the hydraulic pressure, and also removed the #5 fuse. It seems to still be under pressure and won't release. I removed the torque bolts holding the lock mechanism, hoping it would make some difference, but no luck. Before I try anything else, I would like to hear from someone that has had a similar issue. Thanks, Dave, Brookfield, NH
Thanks for your response, I have lifted the rear top bow enough to allow clearance for the tonneau to open, the header is unlatched and raised from the windshield, but I'm not able to unlock the tonneau with the 10 mm tool. It seems like it is still locked. I'd like to do it manually to avoid causing any additional problems. It is possibly out of synch but I'm not sure. Dave
When you unlatch the tonneau do you keep the wrench on the cam and hold it to the left as you open the cover? If I remember correctly if you just unlock it but not hold the wrench it just re-latches.

I think it may still be locked or somehow jammed. There is much more resistance when I turn the wrench, and it pulls right back down. I have a picture of the lock mechanism, with the cover removed. Is this how it's supposed to look in the locked position ?
I recently replaced all the cylinders on one of my roadsters, when I would open the tonneau I had my wife hold the rear bow up so I could use both hands, one to move the tool and one to lift the tonneau. I could not lift the lid without holding the wrench at its full travel point. I think you have the right idea, you just need an extra hand.
Thanks Pizza Man, With the trunk open, the divider down, and the inspection cover removed ( 3 small screws ). There is no pressure in the system. It seems like the pin is not down far enough to actuate the switch. It seems like the tonneau is in the locked position and stuck or somehow jammed.
Watched all and can do top will go up after manually putting down but not down again only manually have not removed fuse 5 does car need to be running
since it works going up after putting down manually couls cargo sensor be bad?…heip
The car needs to be running while doing the three recommended manual opens and closes.

This is a great thread for your issue very descriptive.
As far as whats going on with yours.
DO the windows roll down when you turn the d ring and push the top up?
If they do check the roof up sensor described in the thread listed above.
If not check the sensor in front of the passenger embedded in the windshield.
Hope this helped.

THis is an easy one; either the divider ("cargo") sensor is bad (and it probably is) or the top open switch over the passenger's head is bad.
Gotta be one or the other. Open the trunk and make SURE the arm on the divider, driver's side, is pressing up on the switch arm.
