Difference between bad Camshaft and Crankshaft position sensor symptoms
What are the different symptoms between a bad Crankshaft position sensor and a bad Camshaft position sensor?
Thanks
Thanks
I'm a proponent of reading the codes stored in the computer via an OBD tool. The MB codes are more accurate and informative in my opinion. I found the below link for the MB P codes its a PDF.

Hope this helped.

Symptoms are the same... No start although generally the crankshaft sensor goes before the camshaft sensor as it is located in a hotter area of the engine. Sometimes when the crankshaft sensor starts to fail the car will die while driving but then you'll be able to get it started again after it has cooled down. Crankshaft sensor is cheaper than the camshaft sensor. When you replace, go with Bosch... Not cheap crap that will fail right away.
Camshaft sensor: Car will crank and crank and not start or crank for a while then start. Usually a check engine light will come on and code will be stored.
Ive only had my car die on me once from a fail crankshaft sensor and it was when I was merging on the hwy, glad I beat every and was able to merge before it died since I could coast to the emergency lane with no problem Since then though I usually get a check engine light for a bad crankshaft engine. My car eats them, I swear I change the thing once every 2 years, but my car is a DD.
Ive never changed my camshaft sensor since I owned this car, im tempted to just replace it anyway.

I placed a link to the spare parts list below it is a PDF.

So my wife bought a 2006 crossfire 3.2 47000 miles. drove for one whole day and died on her and just would turn over and not start until it cooled down. Drove home and started looking on internet and found this site. Was a lot of help. Decided to buy new RCM and crank and cam sensor. Just to kill all birds one stone. Car would start and then just crank and no start. And then crank long time and try to start like the timing was off or flooding. Found out the crank shaft position sensor I replaced was Bosch and cam sensor was import direct. Changed to Bosch cam sensor and car runs like a champ. But now I have a high pitched whistle noise from behind the glove book when AC is on goes away when fan is on the dot . Button but whistles when in the O fan position. This happens when driving and you lift off the gas and RPMs are dropping back down. Replaced the AC vacuum valve and air filter and still has the whistle. Any help please thanks
