Battery drain
Hello,
I have a battery drain problem.
I saved this 2004 base model car from weeds and I am very familar with almost everything cleaned couple hundred connectors. Been fine for couple years.
My Fluke on DC amps shows 9 amps not ma. Switch the leads and then I get 4 amps also not ma.
A brand new Optima wont last overnight and my original Optima was fine after getting it out of car.
This is quite a lot of drain cant do much in the middle of ice storm.
The difference in amps sounds like a diode.maybe alternator.
The chime is not working never did I will check to see if it is unhooked.
Any opinions would be welcome.

Start the car, use your meter to read AC volts across the battery terminals. If you get any AC voltage the problem is in the alternator. If the alternator is good you should get no AC voltage.
