Hatch latch would neither release nor fully engage striker, leaving hatch frozen in an almost-closed position. The paddle was loose, disengaged from the latch. Neither would the remote close or release the latch, though it did operate the latch solenoid. Solution: in required sequence, alternately engage remote open/close buttons and manual paddle of latch. Eureka! The paddle to latch linkage reconnects. I didn't record the button/paddle sequence, but the approach works. Had the same problem with Dodge OMNI years ago. Chrysler engineering, or German?
