Smelly heater??? Help!
Hello everyone, I have this occasional smell coming from my vents. I tried to vacuum inside vents with a small suction wand, but I still get the smell. It's almost like something nested in the firewall below the dash somewhere. very mouse nest smell, but I cannot locate anything or get into it? What would be the best way to get into all the internal ducts and deep clean? Cheers!

Have you checked the cabin air filter to see any build up/clogs etc or has it been changed on schedule? They do sell stuff you can spray into the hvac air intake that will go into the vents such as BG Frigi-Fresh. There really is no way to get into all the ducts to manually clean that I am aware of.
If not I guess I have someone look over the car for you and hopefully they don't find a nest or try a car detailing place?
I bought a 2005 a few months ago and it has a horrible stink coming out. Changed the cabin filter... no help. How do I locate the AIR INTAKE in the engine compartment? Wife will only ride with top down. Love the car but for this.
I believe the air comes in through the cowl in front of the windshield. There is also four drains under there that need to be cleaned occasionally. Use the search feature at the top os the page for changing the alarm siren.

I’ve had the same problem since I bought mine 13 years ago. It’s garaged all the time and seldom, if ever, driven in the rain. Kansas City has high humidity in the summer and I’m guessing the odor is from moisture building up on the condenser and vent walls, which then tends to get mold/mildew growth. To help prevent the growth, I run the heater on high for a short time before turning the engine off to try to dry things out. When the smell gets bad, I put the windows up, turn the AC on high, and spray a can of Lysol in the intake in front of the windshield. I’ve had the same problem with a couple of other cars so I know this is not unique to Crossfires.
