Supercharger does, sometimes, not kick in
I replaced the IC pump and wired it such that it always works. I replaced the intercooler which will have been leaking for years. I. Replaced the distribution chain. And stil quit often it feals like the supercharger does not kick in. I had the supercharger checked by a specialised company, they say that it (inc. The clutch) is OK. I found the gearbox was slipping (no wonder after 300k kilometers) and replaced it. And … the problem still exists. Maybe it is the SC or maybe the injection? I read somewhere that sometimes the relais box is the problem and can cause all kind of problems. The computer does not complain about anything by the way!
Does anybody know:
the OEM number for the relais box?
know whether the box from the SLK 3.2 AMG is the same?
well …I only spent only one year until now and built myself a better car in the mean time. If I can solve this then I’m done 😅

What is the gap between the clutch plates?. It should be .012 to .016” , too much and the magnetic forces get weaker.
Yo may have to reduce the washers that determine the gap, with your mileage the wear pads will be somewhat thinner than the original, have you studied the faces of the clutch? They could be chewed up and lack the area for a good magnetic attraction.
While your at it check the RCM this causes all sorts of trouble if the contacts are burnt, I see no mention of this in the thread.
Both of the CPS’s measure positions of the crankshaft and camshaft not their temperature.
Good luck, you deserve it.

I had the SC checked by a company that specialised on SC’s. The gap was fine and no problems found in contacts. they gold me the SC was ok. Maybe not surprising because although I have high mileage I did many, many, kilometers on the highway 🤔.
Well it's been awhile with this problem and I just let it sit sit all these months. I have just been running it around a few blocks, once a week, to keep the battery up. It starts and runs great unless I shower down on the gas pedal. Starting to get a little cooler so I'll be getting out there soon to work on it again. Gonna start at my 1st post and re-read all the suggestions. First think I'll do is check fuel pressure delivery. as "Pazzaguy" suggested, to see if all is good.
It took some time but we finally found what the problem was with the supercharger. The K40 relais has been overheated. I also had the car tuned, installed a smaller pully on the supercharger. What a car this is .... I love it. Looking forward tom the next 350.000 km.
