Question Mystery Hole in Firewall Underneath Brake Booster

So, I found the red cap to a positive battery cable hastily glued into a mystery hole (OE in origin) on the firewall right below the brake booster. The question is as follows, is there a body plug for this hole that is simply missing or is there some equipment that should be installed that simply isn't? Could be a knockout for a third pedal given the position. Pics to follow...

Yes there is a body plug that goes there if it is an automatic, if it is a manual then that hole is used. At the factory if it was an automatic sometimes they put the body plug and sometimes they didn't.

Figured as much. I'll find one to pop in there. Thanks!
