Dashboard lights all lit up
Hello Forum,
I have been gone awhile since my posting of my original thread regarding my cluster lights remaining on, and the car over revving. Okay so what I have I done in the meantime?
I replaced the RCM as noted above in a prior post, lights in cluster remained unchanged. My car was starting, but not running smoothly, I could at least pull it out of the garage. I disconnected the seat alarm as someone suggested in a prior post and now the car will not even turn over. I put new batteries in the key fobs, no change. I feel the vehicle theft security system is contributing to the concern.
After checking my service manuals, I thought it might be the skreem module. I replaced the skreem module, car still not starting. I did not change the sentry antenna ring as it was working prior to the skreem module replacement.
Read my manual and saw that I need to reprogram the the skreem and key system with the DRB III scan tool.
I do not have access to a DRB III scan tool nor do I have the funds to purchase one.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Replacinged the SKREEM??? Cathy that could be a real problem. Where did you get the SKREEM ??????
The #9 fuse will disconnect the "security system". Number 9 fuse is in the black box drivers side under the hood.
Before you do anything else answer the question about the SKREEM. There are only two maybe three places in the USA that can provide a working SKREEM replacement. WHERE DID YOU GET THE SKREEM ??
PS: DO NOT THROW YOUR OLD (ORIGINAL) SKREEM AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have my old skreem.
I think your original screem was fine and you got a bad RCM even though it was new. If you put your original screem back in, I'll bet it will run. Have you ever scanned for codes?
You need your original SKREEM to accomplish this
I will put the old one back in. However, it would not start with the old one in it, therefore, I thought the skreem needed to be replaced.
Stay tuned...

It did not start, just clicked. If I send a photo of the new one I put in can you tell if the soldering is bad? That seems to be a theme with the RCM's. This is all Greek to me, I am learning as I go, my hubby says the car needs to go to the junk yard. I want to try everything within reason.
I suggest you call and talk to : MSS (Mercedes swap shop) or needswings. They are online or take it to an independent repair shop that works on Mercedes. It is basically a 2004 Mercedes SLK-320.

@Kernol I congratulate on on your fortitude. However, considering your confusion on the problem with your car I strongly suggest you contact a repairman who specializes in Mercedes and Crossfire repaires. He will travel to your home and repair your car. Please, text:
Miami Matt's mercedes & Crossfires All of the U S A ,,,will travel .786 877 5959 text will call u back
Please, give it a try, he is well qualified, has the correct tools and in the long run will save you money and lots of time.
PS DO NOT send your car to the junk yard! There is much more to the RCM than the solder jionts. Often the contacts in the relays get dirty, or you simply have bad contact at the connectors; easily sorted out by someone with experience. Let Matt help you. He can scan your car for diagnostic codes and get your Crossfire back on the road running strong.
