Default Spoiler not operating

Need some help. 2005 roadster and all of a sudden wing became inoperable.
I believe this is keeping the top from working but need suggestions. Current understanding so far
button on dash is non responsive with no light
I can manually activate the button light and wing with drb3.
drb3 can see button being pressed
No dtc's present.
I think it might be a limit switch as it shows both extended and retracted as active in the io display menu.
Thoughts or ideas.
Sorry for any typos or missing info doing this from a tiny keyboard device

Just some ideas;
Is there enough fluid in the hydraulic reservoir? How old is you battery and does it have enough voltage?

I would buy a replacement BCU
same year, same transmission
roadster

fast and easy swap
under $85 on ebay
roadster
2005
Automatic
currently listed

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/113157736039...mis&media=COPY

These units are aging. If the DRB sees it…
It’s easy to swap and it’s worth a shot

worst case you have a spare BCU

Just a simple question, how old is your battery? Have you checked it for voltage output, if 12 or less, replace the battery, it should read in the 14-volt range for the electronics to work properly. This maybe your problem. BTW, you never mentioned whether the spoiler is in the up or down position.
Good Luck....

I have a spare BCU, but thought they were vin coded, so didn't swap yet as I was going to code the vin?
Yes voltages are all good and DRB3 isn't reading the limit switches at the switch either up or down. (I can manually operate the motor) I was going to break out the wiring diagrams next to trace for continuity up to the BCU as limit switches are testing good.
I am leaning towards the BCU as when I took a look the electronic box cooling fan is not working. things were hot!
PTCM is saying blocked in DRB3 so signals aren't even getting that far.

The BCU and TCU are NOT VIN coded. I discovered that when I was having an issue with wing and top.
When I went to put top up it wouldn’t allow me because it was looking for a signal from wing. I had to turn off the car and restart it to get the top to go up.

I had removed the speed deployed spoiler and went with fixed wing.

so I installed the BCU from SRT roadster and my problem went away. No coding needed.

before you spend a crap ton of time, just swap it and see

you never know and your commitment is 10-15 minutes

replaced the BCU and same issue. Another thing I am noticing is it doesn't seem as if the electronics box cooling fan is operating. That is supposed to be always on correct? might or might not be related, but trying to give all the information

Any chance you can borrow a known working BCU to test?

Haven't been able to work on this much since it is an hour away at my parents house. Did some trouble shooting and according to the manual next step is a bad switch. I am not confident in this but have a spare so going that route.Snapfire, no luck with a spare BCU. Anyone in DFW have one I could borrow for a while? Might order another one off ebay just to add to the spare parts bin.

Going back to the BCU, just not seeming like it is operating right. As long as the Serial numbers HW and SW numbers match up it doesn't matter what model CF it came from right? Roadster, coupe or SRT 6?

BCU ROADSTER NA
BCU ROADSTER SRT
ARE DIFFERENT

I cannot speak to the Coupe but with speed deploy wing I strongly assume that coupe NA and coupe SRT are different too

Any codes in the PTCM or CLPM?

Sorry this is so off and on, but car is an hour away from me right now.
no codes in any module. I swapped with another BCM and it is working properly as far as I can tell with the following exceptions
No 12v to electronics fan with key on
not recognizing spoiler up down button at all
With the top operation which started the whole thing I have a PTCM blocked message when looking through Input output screen in DRBIII.
Everything else works fine on the car.
I have done the following so far
Continuity of spoiler switch wires
replaced spoiler switch
replaced BCM
replaced electronics fan as it was bad
made sure BCM was set properly for NA roadster

The fan not coming on with key really bothers me as that says something in the BCM or signaling to BCM is not correct. Also don't want to run the car without it working.

I question if you put the right version of BCM in there. Also, limit switches: The wing motor is operated by the BCM, but the limit switches on the wing tell the BCM where the wing is in its travel.
Do not ignore the CLP/SSM, it has supervisory control over the wing.

I've fixed more convertible top and wing issues by replacing the CLP/SSM than any other resolution.

Use a voltmeter at the connector on the BCM, If both are high, the wing is between "UP" and "DOWN" or if it is UP or DOWN, then that limit switch is bad.
If both are low, I'd suspect a loss of bias from the BCM, altho it could be that both wires are shorted to ground somewhere, altho I doubt that.

Of course, once in a while, it's the MOTOR that has simply failed. Measuring for power going to the motor when the button is pressed will reveal that.

BCM is correct based upon all info I can find.
I thought about the CLP, but it is a recent replacement (not that it can't fail) and no sign of water. Car isn't driven in the rain and is hand washed now.
I would lean more towards those, but when testing the limit switches they show as good. What I am stuck at is that there is no LED light at the spoiler switch and it doesn't activate or show as in use in DRBIII- so the system doesn't know it is working. All the troubleshooting guide said to replace the switch itself. I did that with 3 different switches with same result.

As I understand it here is the order
Wing position known - either full up or down
Windows down or doors open
open latch switch
then roof will operate.

I am 99% sure it is the first step that is blocking the system. I will go back over the limit switches again, and make sure they are registering as activating, but the car definitely doesn't know where the wing is.

Thanks for the ideas.
